Munich Away: travel/hotels

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I stayed here when I went: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review ... varia.html

Cheap and right by the central rail station; short walk to Marienplatz

Pucker hotel and flights now booked. Got 3 nights at the Palace Hotel for £350 per room. The whole trip is costing less than £300 each!

That ticket's a poof. There-done.

Also what are you hoping to receive?

Does essem mean all tickets? Do we know something the rest of football doesn't?

Outside the airport we got into a taxi (People Carrier) We asked 4 other lads if they wanted to share a taxi. €15 each and we were at the central station in Munich in under the hour. On the way back we got a group train ticket for 4 of us at €3.50 each from munich central station to memmingen station.

As far as i know there is a bus also from Memmingen airport to Munich. Usually goes after the Ryanair flights land. €15 each but if there is a group of 3 or 4 the train is cheaper
Just been looking into transfers from Munich airport to central Munich, they start at 70 euros for a taxi which is a lot more expensive than i thought they would be. God knows how much they would be from Memmingen. Not sure it's worth the hassle. Here is a guide to arriving/departing from Munich Airport.

Quickest way is probably the overground at just under 11 euros to central munich. There also is a 3 day travelcard which covers all forms of transport across Munich including the metro to the stadium on match day.

Ok less than two weeks till we travel to munich. Anyone got plans to meet up for a beer pre match or is there a pub that arsenal fans will meet up en masse around Marienplatz.

There are five of us up for a good few beers!

Many of us started in the Augustiner last year, then Marienzplatz around half 4. There's a great open square with grass and chairs on the back side of the cathedral as well. Particularly nice spot if it's sunny.

dubliner-irishpub.de is a good spot just across from Hofbrauhaus as well. There were plenty in that square pre-match.

Yeah looks like those two bars will be swarming with gooners. Here's a good guide written by a german gooner:
