THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Next time you are around Ashburton Grove and Highbury look at the two stadiums in their current guise and ask yourself the very same question..or rather ask is losing 1-5 in Munich and being bottom of a group that had a second place finish as guaranteed as it could possibly be why we moved.

IF you lot win the league (and I hope you do instead of City, we won't get near the title.)

Will you still call Wenger all those nasty names then? I am not being pedantic here, it's a genuine question.

That fact that the majority of our fan base could be so nonplussed about a 5-1 dicking is utterly depressing. I suppose they've just got used to seeing us getting trounced in games in the last few years and it's just not that big of a deal anymore.

Well it was for me, last night was shameful and how that parasite isn't being lambasted from all angles this morning is beyond me :banghead:

Watched the post match interview, "the players defended poorly, they lacked mental strength".
He signed these players, he trains them, he selects them, he gives them a tactical formation (allegedly).
So how does he get away wih coming on like some neutral, independant observer telling us how shit we were.
Its HIS team.

has the Premier League manager of the month been awarded for October yet?
Wenger must stand a good chance of winning it....

I was on night shift last night so wasn't watching the game. When I got up today l moaned about the result to my wife and she knew nothing about it. Under Wenger we are irrelevant to the media, we aren't going to genuinely compete, we aren't going to sack the manager, there is no story as we shamble along with no pressure on the manager and no chance of achieving real success. We are the McDonalds of football, large sheeplike customer base, successful financial franchise, never going to achieve a Michelin star. Hardly even worth discussion, I bet McDonalds employees don't have as many days off on the sick though.

To be fair, I don't see that we will win the league nor any European competition. We don't have depth in quality in our squad and the depth that we do have are all perma-crocked. We also have a large problem named Arsene Wenger who has a (more recent) history of overseeing many teams full of bottlers. Sorry for the pessimism, but I just don't see us lasting the course to win a title as much as I would like to see me proven wrong.

its funny that from the outside peeps still think we can win the title meaning that Wenker is still a great manager, this is what we are up against, far too many people still think of Clueless as a messiah,im not saying at all that you are one of them Derek but all of us here know we will never ever win another title as long as that giant lady part remains in charge.FACT

More corkers from arseblog as he reefer's to our lack of options in the strikers department -

"Still, it could be worse. We could have spent £50m+ on a player who blackmails his international teammates. Imagine what a character like that in your dressing room could do for the spirit and harmony of a group. Wait, sorry. I forgot. It doesn’t matter what any footballer does off the pitch as long as he performs on it. How silly of me. All the same, bullet dodged there in a big way"

I get the whole harmony ethos, but this is a French squad matter and not a club matter (will bet my life that it wont affect harmony in the Madrid squad  ).
It is also laughable that he sarcastically refer's to the issue of on pitch performance versus off pitch behaviour..........you tell me which you would class as more important  Would you rather have a choir boy as your main striker, or a proven top quality striker that will bag you 20+ league goals a season ? Would he rather if our club didn't have TA6 as our leader for all those years then ? How any fool would then sum up this whole debate by claiming that "we dodged a bullet there" is beyond me - it is such a bullshit idiotic statement that it embarrasses me that any Gooner could even think it much less say it

We all know Suarez is a nasty piece of work but I'd give my left ball bag to have him banging in goals for the Arsenal and driving us towards a league title. It' been the same since time immemorial with players, as long as they are doing the biz on the pitch fans will basically forgive any other indiscretions that may be going on. We're a fickle bunch.

If we had Benzema and he was firing in goals for us the only thing that would concern me about this incident is how many games he may potentially miss, I couldn't give a flying fcuk about anything else.

Anyway, I wouldn't waste your time reading that bile Augie, he's in the club's pocket and ain't ever gonna bite the hand that feeds him. He's spin anything to look pro club/Wenger.

In case you haven't seen this, it's awesome. Literally, no words. Funny how he manages to find the time to get extra £££ in between getting humped in Munchen and not managing to find players. And yeah, bullet dodged with Benzema much happier ugh holy child Sanogo and Campbell (course Giroud would never be caught having extra-marital affairs much like ODL. Oh wait)

I agree rodders and to be honest I rarely go on there when we win, but I do have a look when we suffer a defeat like we did on Wednesday night just so that I can see what excuses he puts forward. I know where his loyalties lie and for me that wipes out any type of credibility the guy has, but yesterday and today's musings are scraping the arse of the barrel imo  Is there ANY Gooner anywhere that would claim today that not signing benzema was a great move by the club ? If there is such a Gooner out there, would they cite this blackmail scandal (as opposed to cost and question marks over his ability) as the reason why not signing him has been proven to be a masterstroke ?

His "defend the club no matter what" ethos rings loud and clear all the fcuking time, and any Gooner that votes for him as blog of the year should hang their head in shame
