He was in paris but was firmly entrenched in some French rapper when the explosions went off - the poor tart thought that he had improved his game as she really felt the earth move at the time, but she should know by now that arsene never changes his tactics/style![]()

Possibly, although knowing Wenger he'll probably somehow spin it as an excuse for our injury crisisaugie wrote:Leyton Gooner wrote:Is he in France for TV duties? Hope he gets back safely if so. I mean that.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Arsenal scout Brian McDermott does not expect manager Arsene Wenger to sign a striker during the January transfer window despite the recent injury of Theo Walcott leaving him short of attacking options. And the former Leeds and Reading manager suggests signing a good forward during the winter market is even more difficult as the best will not be available.
McDermott said, as quoted by Standard Sport: "The manager won't spend unless he thinks it's absolutely necessary. The scouting structure at Arsenal is phenomenal. We all know who the top strikers in the world are. Can you get them to come? They won't be available in January that's an absolute certainty."
ROFL. The "phenomenal" scouting department that found Sanogo, and thought Monaco wouldn't sell Martial!
The same scouting department that couldn't find a single outfield player to improve the team!
You can't find top players in January....but you can't find them in summer either. Poor Arsene!
They "know all the top strikers". Yeah, thanks. Even Stevie Wonder can see how good Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski are. It's one thing signing them, and quite another ending up with Giroud

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
we wont spend if we are 1st or 2nd in the league in January.
the club will be able to brainwash the majority of supporters that we are on course for the title.
in February/March we will then collapse under the pressure and of course injuries before making our usual spurt for the glory of the top 4 trophy.
yes everything in Wenger world is ticking along nicely as usual.....

Out of interest, will you still be saying that next March/April when we are out of the running for the PL because he has (yet again) failed to strengthen the squad during the January window?

Christ, you probably will, won't you?

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He was a good little player Brian got badly injured away to Sunderland to a horrific tackle from ??kilblane?? was never the same !

You know my view will not have changed and I remain of the opinion I held a 3 odd years ago that the 10 years after that we will win things because of not in spite of, what he has done. 3+ years down the line we are two FA cups better to the good, have not had to sell our best and brightest and have, indeed, bought in well and our squad is as good as ever imo. We are certainly in a position to challenge and I will stick by what I have always said - with him or without we will have collected more trophies over the next 7 years quite simply because of what he has done and what he has brought us through. I will not change my mind from month to month and most definitely not at any given transfer period as that is a game for fools I feel.
He will leave in the next few years, probably, but will be instrumental in his replacement and the model he has been central to, will continue and I believe people long after me will reap the benefits of what he has done like so many of us have done post-Chapman (Herbert not Lee of course

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
People are no longer after our best and brightest because we've systematically flogged them off to other sides and don't exactly have the star players any more, other than Sanchez who has only been here one year.
Rest assured if a big club came banging down the door for Koscielny or whoever else people consider to be key, and that player wanted to go we'd sell them without a second thought.

One, we clearly disagree on how many 'key' players we have. I see a lot more than just one whenever I watch us play but a question of one's perspective I guess.
Two, any player who 'wants' to go from any club will ultimately get sold without much of a second thought nowadays?

So what you're saying is you'll always back him even when he's not doing his job because he has won two cups? You back a manager who shows no other ambition when the league is there for the taking?Steve_I wrote:IF that is the situation we find ourselves in then yes, of course I will, DBDB10GOONER wrote:Good one, Steve!Steve_I wrote:Yep, and a darn good job too.flash gunner wrote:Is he still here?![]()

However many key players you think we have, my point is that none of them are good enough to be courted desperately by the top clubs.Steve_I wrote:Unable to argue here due to a couple of reasons.northbank123 wrote:People are no longer after our best and brightest because we've systematically flogged them off to other sides and don't exactly have the star players any more, other than Sanchez who has only been here one year.

If we were in Liverpools shoes we would have sold Suarez when the 40m bid came in and he kicked up a fuss. As it was they strong-armed him, put those rumours to bed for a year, he nearly single handedly won them the title and then they sold him for 30 mil more.
Seem to remember Yaya Toure desperately trying to engineer a move away too.
