THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The boo boys will be back out when Arsenal lose their next match mind you - such a bipolar fanbase these days it seems.

It's either Wenger IN or Wenger OUT - you can't have both.
No-one has changed their mind, 95 percent of this forum want him gone. Whereas you lot were blowing LVGS trumpet earlier in the season, now you want him gone huh?
You'll actually find that a lot of United fans never wanted Van Gaal in the first place. We were convinced we'd get Ancellotti, Guardiola or Maureen.

And I didn't mean the posters on here - I meant the matchgoing fans. The Emirates is "One Arsene Wenger" one weekend and then "Booooooooo!" the next. The fans need to get together and sing from the same hymn sheet. It's not achieving anything supporting him one week and then turning on him the next. Rinse, repeat.

Not that you people need telling this, just venting my thoughts here :)
To be fair, SteveO aside, it's been a long time since I've heard a rendition of TO1AW at a match. We're in the silent majority

Why is he a wum :?

He defends his own corner against 95% of posters on here and I think he does it well and takes a lot of stick and unfairly imo.

Some might call you a wum Augie cos you are negative in the extreme and having a quick look through last nights match thread I could easily come to the conclusion that a lot of the "well done Arsenal" comments were indeed faint praise

Everyone on here has their own agenda and when results don't go their way then their they feel a need to back up their argument, a lot on here want us to lose because that would justify their extreme views.

I for one want Arsenal to win every game regardless of who is in charge.

A large majority of posters on here must be missing a nose

Anyhow I need to find my last post about Wenger Over-Achieving in most of his tenure, didn't have time to reply to a post before my holiday

Leftendgooner, there is a difference coming on here and making a legitimate point, and sniping at everyone, mentioning Bradford and Blackburn in order to get a reaction.

I've known plenty of managers throughout the years who have bemoaned or even resigned over the lack of transfer funds made available to them. Any good manager should always be looking to improve and strengthen his squad.
I've only ever known of one manager who told bare-faced lies about the fitness of his players until the transfer windiw was closed so he wouldnt have to spend any of the enormous transfer kitty available to him.

You are very welcome to him but I dont think Utd fans would put up with his "fourth place is a trophy" bollox for too long and I doubt Wenger would go to a club with actual ambition or expectations.

Call me Lefty mate, one of life's regrets is having a moniker so looooong

I don't read all his posts granted but he doesn't wind me up (Augie on the other hand :box: Only joking mate  ), maybe I'm missing something (well actually yes I am, but it's a long story and involves swimming naked in a lagoon full of catfish  ).

Anyhow it's Christmas, it must be my missus has spent all MY money (and that's not a sexist remark either :? ) :barscarf:

Laughing gooner is from the other side of the fence. He's certainly not a wum and is needed on here, if we're to maintain any semblance of equilibrium.

That result last night could be seen a mile off and if we had to win our last 4 league games in order to bag the much coveted VT then I have absolutely no doubt we'd produce the same level of performance.

However if we had to win just one of our last 4 games to win the league, that's where you run into trouble with this team and manager.

They can pull results out of the fire when the spot light is off them, just look at how many calendar year trophies we have, but when the pressure is applied, more often than not, we crack.
Absolutely. The players have no bottle for the PL or CL. They haven't had it for many years.
xisstential wrote:Wenger on Sky this morning saying this might be our lucky year in the CL??? How would you win this difficult competition through luck?? And Walcott after sweeping aside the mighty, previously unbeaten, 5 time CL winners, Olympiacos, is now saying that after seeing that, Wolfsburg, Zenit, Real, Barca....... would all want to avoid Arsenal. The delusions run very, very deep at the club. When Wenger finally drags his sorry arse out the door there are a dozen players who need to follow him.Arteta,Mertesacker,Giroud,Ramsey, Walcott, Campbell.....that's just for starters
TOF is so full of shit. We will never win the CL with him as manager. Unfortunately, it's that missing trophy that seems to motivate him into staying here for yet more Groundhog Seasons :suicide:

Of course he is a WUM.

That's not to say that his views are insincere but just about every post is antagonistic and/or designed to provoke people.

There have been pro-Wenger posters on here in the past who have tried to their argue their point fairly. LG on the other hand comes on, makes a ridiculous statement and looks for a reaction. I've seen games(such as Bayern at home) when everyone on here was happy, and he still came on here sniping.

Why the fuck can someone not express different views, sounds like Wenger the dictator in a different guise

Redarmy, your completely missing the point. No one is saying that pro-Wenger posters aren't welcome on the forum, in-fact it's probably better to have more people like this on here because it generates proper debate, instead of us all repeating the same things continuously about Wenger. The problem is when there is zero attempt to have a legitimate debate, and simply a poster who wants to snipe at everyone. Tell me what debate you can honestly have about someone coming on here after the Olympiakos game, and saying that other posters will probably mention Bradford and Blackburn now.

Christ try reading a post before getting so pissy.

I said I don't think that his views are necessarily insincere but he is the most antagonistic poster on the forum. WUM stands for wind-up merchant, and it seems that every single post is aimed at winding people up.
