Previous Villa v Arsenal matches (Villa Park)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

First match I tool the wife to; 4 - 0 to us, IWWW and Hartson got a brace each.

I was sat in whatever the end opposite the Holt is called with the Villa fans, trying to be discrete, although by the final whistle me and the wife almost outnumbered them.

Nobody does moaning like a Brummie.

Same here. The away end in the QF game was rammed and I remember a large group of Gooners in one of the home stands as well. Away games in the mid 80s were brilliant. Uncomfortable and interesting in the streets afterwards but wonderful experiences :barscarf:

So true, I have great memories of those days. You can talk for hours about the things that used to go on then.
Exciting, fun, scary, adrenalin rush, the camaraderie sum it up.
The amount of walking/running around city centres we used to do then.................. :box:
Remember the quarter final game, and so many more, what i recall vividly was the amazing away support.....mid week 8000 it was crazy....yeah the are there is a terrible place to live

Excuse me if I have the wrong game but 2 that stand out for different reasons.
One was a 3-0 win on New Years Eve the season we won the league in 89. Rocky scored a beauty with a lob from 30 yards.
Summed up what a fantastic talent he was.
Check out the opening post for match footage from that game Sparksy :D :barscarf:

It was the away end mate, so your discretion was not required. Not sure while we all fucked off though.

Nope. None. Sorry.

That club venue has been struck from my memory, FOREVER.

Keane/Bergkamp/Schmeichel/Giggs.

I wasn't in the corner with the away fans, I was in the middle of the Villa fans.

Tomorrow is 17 years to the day since the last time we lost to Villa at Villa Park (I think).

If Santa falls off the roof I'll regard it as a bad omen

Did you "tool the wife" during the game?
