Tbh, I'd take the Jacko statue. Wonder if its "available" in 2017?

But hasnt Wenger qualified for the last 16 the most consecutive times without actually winning it? Thats better than actually winning it, yea?Sean wrote:
I think that just shows that it's not just about the quality of the manager because I don't personally believe Di Matteo has proved himself to be an elite coach.Sean wrote:
You just cant compare managers and players mate. Your example is ridiculous.g88ner wrote:I think that just shows that it's not just about the quality of the manager because I don't personally believe Di Matteo has proved himself to be an elite coach.Sean wrote:
You could also do a similar poster for players. Bergkamp has never won the CL but Phil Neville has.
I don't know who puts these posters together but they need to get out more.
Fine, that's up to you but I don't think it's ridiculous at all. The point is, if you want to win the biggest honours, join the best teams! George Best couldn't do that at international level; which is exactly the point... he was held back by the fact the team he was in wasn't good enough.armchair wrote: You just cant compare managers and players mate. George Best never won the World Cup but he is widely recognised as in the top 5 best players of all time. And yes DB10, an all time great never won the CL.
The pic proves that Wenger after 17 fukin attempts has failed miserably. The pic shows that Wenger is a failure not that the others are "elite"
see message above.armchair wrote:Mate, I was disputing your criticism of the pic and your example of Bergkamp.

And you trying to use Bergkamp, a player as an example to criticise the pic just doesnt make any sense at all. Thats it. No more, no less.
I did mate. Rambles quite a bit tho and doesnt mention the pic......g88ner wrote:see message above.armchair wrote:Mate, I was disputing your criticism of the pic and your example of Bergkamp.

Preaching to the converted mate. Wenger is a specialist in failure.Ikechukwu1 wrote:Pep is elite.

Arsenal have the resources to win the CL, so the money excuse won't wash. Not when you're getting thumped by Monaco, Deportivo, Valencia and PSV in the knockouts
The CL is not down to money and having the best players or Real Madrid's record would be better than 1 CL in the past 10 years!
Jose Mourinho won the CL with Porto, a team that knocked out much richer teams. When he did it again with Inter, they were 9th favourites to win it that year.
No excuses or distraction on Wenger please. He's a bona fide, specialist in European Failure. Full stop.
17 years, just one final, no wins. Pathetic and inexcusable.
And a reminder that in that time he's been knocked out by PSV, Monaco, Valencia (twice) and Deportivo.
Nothing to do with "having the best players and the best teams"
Arsenal's wage bill is higher than Bayern's and everyone in their CL group at £192m yet they only scraped through in 2nd, having lost once to every team in their group.

Of course Ancelotti wouldn't be a valid comparison - a serial CL and domestic league winner. Not a chance he could have masterminded a win against mighty Olympiacos.
Ok mate, quite simple, i want the right choice for the next manger it is vital, no doubt Wenger has to move on thats not even a questionarmchair wrote:Dont think so redarmy. Maybe you should explain yourself better. You were backing up Laughinggooner who wants Wenger to get another contract and you posted that we may get a worse manager than Wenger. Then, conveniently you decide that we should replace him, forgetting that its also quite possible that Pep or Ancellotti may not be successful with us. Make your mind up ffs.Redarmy wrote: You are misunderstanding above, or just sensationalising....just saying there is a lot of dross out there posing as managers, most are ego maniacs...they have to get this appointment right.........
I would like to see Wenger move on and replaced by Ancelotti or Guardiola or someone of that statue and gravitas, not sure if that will happen though
As we all know only one man decides when Wenger goes.....Mr Wenger
