As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
What's wrong with being optimistic before a match? Ten minutes in if we're losing 3 nil, I'll be spitting and cussing like the rest of us.
C'mon lads give us a winning Christmas Present. And if you don't...

I don't think its the optimism that he has a problem with, but more the predictability of us falling flat on our face in big games. Funnily enough, I don't get as worried facing City as I do against the other big teams. Our last five results at home against City:
2014/2015 2-2 D
2013/2014 1-1 D
2012/2013 0-2 L
2011/2012 1-0 W
2010/2011 0-0 D
So 1 loss in 5 isn't a bad record against them. Add to that, the fact City were hammered by both Liverpool and Spurs this season, and it has to give us confidence going into this. Hoping for a 2-1 win.

but everybody dry buttholed Chelsea this season but they still beat us

Its the style of play that we tend to do well against- Stoke (or Bolton) away is (Used to be a nailed on loss, Likewise Chavs away. Other teams we seldom loose to. The play stlye hasnt changed for years, just the names on the paper. Teams that park the bus we tend to be unable to break down. Open playing teams usually loose out to us. Thats why we beat Leicester or Watford away and other sides struggle. Weve always been a good playing team on the break since AWs been around. The 2nd goal V Villa sums up our game on a good day. The rest of the game summed up our lack of desire to put teams to the sword.
Weve always done well V Citeh, apart from the recent away wheels off game . Nothing to suggest its going to be any different this time IMHO.

Yes but we have an awful record against Chelsea in general, and in particular against Mourinho. Against city it's different. We generally do ok against them, and if they are being hammered by two average sides like L'pool and Spurs, then there must be something wrong there.
Really hoping for a good result in this game tonight, think we know how the Arsenal will play, and i hoping for a good game of football and a few goals, saying that will probably be a 0-0 bore draw
