Barcodes at home Saturday 2nd January

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

How many times have we all thought this is a certain 3 points in the bag gme - Only for wenger to give one of his famous pre-match team talks and the players go out and fall asleep - I juust hope we turn up and do the business - instead of fuckingitup like we have done all too often in the past.

I love the way people keep calling Wenger clueless when we are top of the league, last 16 of champions league...really cannot do much more than this at this stage of the season...

Should know what sort of mood they are in by the first 10 mins, don't think Wenger is capable of a motivational speech

Like the way he's been saying Gabriel will be a regular then drops him from todays team, the guy really has lost it :banghead:

He looked a threat on every corner we got and is far more solid than the BFGirl at the back :banghead:

Team selection should be on merit - he earnt his place :banghead:

Fucking joke - although the goal at Norwich was the most schoolboy piece of defending you'll see all season, on balance Gabriel has shown far more than Mertesacker and deserves to be playing ahead of him.

Mertesacker is finished, the bloke is a cowardly carthorse and every attacker in the country knows it. That Southampton game was a complete and utter embarrassment and having seen that every other team in the league will think seriously about targeting him.

Unfortunately Mertesacker is one of Wenger's favourites so will still be here in 2018. Similar to Rosicky who was farcically and needlessly handed a 2-year deal and who Wenger will always try and crowbar into the side (even if it means displacing better regular players), or Arteta who was handed a new deal when everybody could see his legs were gone. Too much misplaced loyalty in players who are just not good enough.

Exactly you have just highlighted one of Wengers major flaws, puts misguided loyalty to players above all else
