If I were a manager I'd want a lot of money to go to United. Since Fergie, two managers are going to leave with a bad reputation. Some fans want Mourinho there, he's thick skinned enough to take all the abuse he'll get if it goes wrong, and he's hasn't come out of the Chelsea job smelling of roses, so it won't matter. Plus he'll get another big pay day when they kick him out.

I wish I was a manager, it doesn't matter how crap a job you do, you always end up earning millions and there's always some other club who will give you a job.

The flip side of that is that expectations at United are far below where they should be for a club which still has the bones of a decent squad, will be able to attract very good players and will make a small fortune available to the right manager.

Nobody predicted that Moyes and van Gaal would do as badly as they would but they are hardly two managers with unblemished reputations at the top level. Moyes did a great job at Everton but was always held back at Everton by his inability to get that big signing right as they plodded on for years with shite strikers. Likewise the only really impressive thing that van Gaal has managed to do since 1997 is win the Dutch league with AZ Alkmaar, not to mention that he has a notorious history of falling out with players, colleagues and the media.

If Guardiola goes to United he will turn things around there - not because he is necessarily a fantastic versatile manager but because the players and fans will all buy into what he does there and suddenly good players will want to join United whereas they wouldn't look twice at the moment.

I first heard about these Pochettino to United rumours on the radio today. Would be fucking hilarious on both counts - one to keep up the good work of Agents Moyes & LVG, and to leave the swampdwellers searching for another Messiah !

Bring it on - the man is a fucking imposter of a manager anyway

The Sunderland game is winnable. They should have lost vs Leicester today and I would expect it to be a tough game for them both in the league and FA cup. The replay was perfect for us if anyone considers them as title rivals, which I don't btw.

Fucking hell some people going miles out of their way to talk Spurs up.

They've won 9 PL games out of 20 this season and despite harvesting tremendous amounts of luck with refereeing errors and lucky goals to pick up points are still 6 behind us despite us being underwhelming for most of the season.

Add to this that they will do their usual when the Europe League gets to the knockout stages and burn themselves out by playing full teams in tricky two-legged ties only to secure a last 8/16 exit.

Finally when have Spurs ever come out on top of a battle? Never. If they are in a fight for top four or whatever then they always end up getting edged out. Look at their fixtures in April - Liverpool (a), United (h), Stoke (a), West Brom (h), Chelsea (a). It's all set up for them to crash and burn.

Exactly right - and by April of course Pohettino would have burnt the entire squad out keeping up his proud track record from the Espanyol and Southampton days. In some ways it would be great for them to finish 4th hence granting him the freedom of Haringey and allow the media wankathon to take him all the way to OT to become the Plastics next manager.......then let the Spuds suffer the heartbreak of a CL play off exit

The reality of course is that they will finish 6th

Exfuckingscuse me!! I did. 8)

Moyes never dealt with that level of pressure and never dealt with so many huge egos in a dressing room full of successful winners. Moyes reminds me of Martin O'Neill - does a good job at a relatively small club with limited money and no real superstars. He gets them to punch above their weight. But managing a top club is totally different to that in every way. He was doomed and I said so (much to the amusement of a few on here! ).

Van Beavis brought too much baggage and ego and was bound to fall out with everyone and be divisive. He has a long history of that.
