You don't think AC Milan are a more prestigious club to play for than Arsenal?
- as a kid, I bet he dreamed of one day playing for a club like Milan, rather than Arsenal. When he was growing up...George Graham's Arsenal were hardly on the cusp of world domination...whereas, AC Milan..with Baresi, Maldini, van Basten, Rijkaard, Gullit, etc were probably the team of the decade.

You can say he only moved for money if you want, but I really think that's simplifying things too much.

From a complete neautral perspective, is it really that insane of him to join a world super power like AC Milan, especially when they're looking to freshen up there squad, and buy some top top players? throw in the fact that he'll be earning more money...and it looks a very difficult move to turn down IMO.

I'm very frustrated that Flamini's leaving, but no way has he behaved anything like Cashley!

You should wash your mouth with soap young man![/quote]

ac milan "were" a prestigious club. i really think with the modern day premier league and ac milans home form..( are they in the champs league next year? ).. the scandals in italy.. the abundance of defensive midfielders.. the veteran ac milan squad.. id think his chances at arsenal were better..
i mean seriously.. its just the money.. no prestige.. no boyhood dream no nothin..
there are blokes out there who'd kill to put on that arsenal shirt and there are some blokes who would throw it away for some oil money...i reckon flaminis found his way in between

i mean i know he gave all.. but still he was just gettin to be one of the best and for a few more hes gone. no other reason. no problem with the club, management , players nothin. only a few more quid.
i mean how different is that to cashley.
Well he stayed by the law at first. Played by the rules and didn't go behind our back. And I doubt he'll write a book

How can you say that AC Milan have no prestige and that he had no boyhood dream? You could say that about Chelski but AC Milan...

bullshit...AC Milan are a bigger club than Arsenal, full stop.

How are his chances of silverware better at Arsenal than Milan?

we've won nothing for 3yrs..and only the FA Cup in the last 4. Milan are the holders of the Champions League...so don't be fooled that Milan are a bunch of has beens.

They have money to spend, a point to prove next season, and have a team with top top players like Kaka, Pato, Pirlo, Nesta, etc.

At Arsenal, we have a low wage cap, a very limited transfer budget, and we have to compete with ManU, Chelsea and Liverpool for the title...all of which will spend upwards of £30m this summer.

I totally understand Flamini's decision.

Of course it pisses me off...he has been great this season, and its a damn shame he's leaving.

But, it was his decision to make, and that's fair enough.

Disappointing to see him go.

Perhaps he had made a decision to leave before the end of the season anyway. He had a hard time getting into our team in the first place...and just becuase he's there now...look at Gilberto!

Never mind, Arsene has his eye on a replacement.

I for one am absolutely gutted to lose the Flamster. I have raved about him for 3 years to everyone, (all of which gave me very odd looks). He wasnt the most gifted player but he always gave 110%. He cannot be compared to cashley in anyway.

If the club wanted to keep Matty, they had 4 years in which to do so. He has had an amazing season and that prompted them to offer him a new contract. He couldnt get into our Midfield a few seasons back, so he filled in at left back (and what a left back he was!!!!) Lets not forget Arsenal were gonna let him go last season (to Birmingham IIRC) What a season he has had to go from Birmingham wanting him to AC Milan!!!

He wasnt tapped up, he didnt sign a 4 year deal then fuck off after 1, he didnt speak to other clubs behind Arsenals back and he always kept giving 110% right till the end! Well done Matty, i hate to see you go, but at least you done it properly!

One thing this does highlight is that we now really do have to start diggin into the transfer kitty, whether that is £70m or £30m, we have to start spending...

I think this wage structure stuff is the reason we all ask questions like "why didnt we sign Torres?, why didnt we get Anelka?, Why dont we go for Berbatov?" Its simple, regardless to what the club say, we cannot afford them. No proven player is going to join us for 50k a week, and wny that do cant be that good to only earn that in the modern day...

Im prepared for another summer of unknown signings!!, Not because they are the most talented young individuals on the planet and we are the club to nurture that talent, but because kids are all we can afford...

Just do me one favour Arsenal, sign them on a pissing 10 year deal! Otherwise it will just be another Flamini type situation!
