As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Rodders, you are not implying that Wenger has been "economical" with the truth are you??!!

The Knowing One wrote:It would be interesting how far everyone on here would go in terms of replacement to get rid of le cock, I'm not talking the obvious likes of Pep, Simeone, Ancelotti, but the unproven, the unloved and the downright shite
Starting with last nights opponents I would dance around the room if we got Koeman and yes I would take Jose and uneasy as that makes me feel
But what about Pardew, Allardyce, Pulis!! just how far would go to get rid
I dislike Pulis too much and not Allardyce either, but Pardew I would take. In fact I would pretty much take ANY one of the current PL managers barring McClaren. You just cannot have a manager with this much power. And we can argue until we are blue in the face but Stan wants profits before trophies. And Wenger, lining his own pockets along the way, has been given absolute authority and absolution before every season even starts. If we went 2 years in a row, maybe 3, without getting into CL and winning nothing Kroenke would do something. Nothing but financial shortfalls will shake him.
A lot of people say it's like watching a film that you already know the ending of.
Robbed from the Daily Hate -
2004-05 - two points clear before the defeat at Old Trafford that ended their unbeaten run in October. By January they were 10 points behind Chelsea. Finished second.
2005-06 - Never really in the title race - three wins in a row to end the season saw them pip Spurs to fourth place on the final day.
2006-07 - Never in the title race - by the time they went on a seven-game unbeaten run to end the season, they were already 22 points off the pace - it did ensure them a Champions League place though.
2007-08 - A win over Birmingham would have kept Arsenal top of the league in January, but Eduardo's leg-break, William Gallas' temper, and the late penalty are all the stuff of legend. By the time they lost to Chelsea two months later they were six points off the pace, while defeat at Old Trafford in April made it nine. Finishing with four wins in a row meant the final gap was only four points, but the title was well out of reach.
2008-09 - In January Arsenal were within touching distance of the leaders but three consecutive draws against Everton, West Ham and Tottenham saw them fall too far off the pace, and they were never in the race again that season.
2009-10 - Top of the league on March 20, Arsenal drew with Birmingham and Man City and lost to Spurs, Wigan and Blackburn in their next six fixtures. By May they were 11 points off the pace.
2010-11 - Before their Carling Cup final defeat by Birmingham, Arsenal were a point off the top. They won just two of thier last 11 league games and eventually finished fourth.
2011-12 - Out of the title race before they'd ever really been in it and were 10 points behind Tottenham in February before a startling run saw them overtake their rivals and hold on until the final day, denying them Champions League football.
2012-13 - Already 15 points off the pace by the start of December, Arsenal were seven points behind Tottenham, and in fifth, when they lost the north London derby in early March. But eight wins and two draws in their last 10 games saw them get Champions League football, yet again, by a point over their rivals.
2013-14 - Arsenal topped the league almost constantly throughout the first half of the season, by as many as seven points at the end of November. Even after conceding six goals at Manchester City in December they ended the year on top. They were top going into the game at Anfield that saw them destroyed 5-1, but by the time Chelsea hammered them 6-0 a month later they were seven points off the pace. They finished the season with five straight wins, but by then the title was a three-way fight between Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.
2014-15 - Chelsea had run away from Arsenal by Christmas, and while the Gunners had an excellent second half of the season - winning 13 of their 19 games to finish third, it was never going to be enough.

Christ. That is depressing when put together like that. I'd seriously like to see an AKB post in response to that.

Absolutely incredible, and testament to Wengers incredible ability & experience, and considering we were building a new stadium and with limited resources that we were so competitive during all that time. There you go, how's that??
and some gooners will say wait until the end of the summer transfer window, then Christmas then May then end of the summer transfer window again, etc.
Arsenal can be doing so much better but Arsene has built his footballing career and spin and misdirection. In the future, it wouldn't surprise any one if that list included the 2019/2020 season would it?
rodders999 wrote:Makes for pretty depressing reading alright when compiled like that, Arsenal FC - The Lost Decade.
And no matter how many cock-ups, humiliations, and anal-decimations we're on the end of, Wenger will always be devoid of any blame by his cult followers and even deluded supporters of other teams. They'll blame refs, oil money, diving, ISIS, Cameron... literally anything or anyone other than our dear leader and his squad of fairies.

Yeah.... but it's all moot, Wenger aint going anywhere. Seriously would you if you were him?? Do you think there is a big/biggish club anywhere in the world who would want him?? I don't.

The list should have stopped after 2010, with him getting the boot. How many times can the same thing be allowed to happen when the whole world knows what will happen in advance? What a complete, useless fraud, Wanker is.
