As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Perryashburtongroves wrote:Just received this: We have listened to our fans and recognise that there is confusion about the basis of our long standing policy on season ticket charges for our seven cup matches in our season ticket package. We believe that this policy, which last year resulted in a refund to fans and this year would result in a surcharge, is the fairest of the possible alternatives but we accept, on the basis of the reaction to our recent announcement, that we need to improve our supporters’ understanding of how the system works.
It was never our intention that we would upset those fans who are amongst our most loyal supporters. Having listened to feedback, we are announcing on this occasion that we will not ask fans to pay the additional amount due under our season ticket conditions for the game on February 23rd.
We remain of the view that our approach to our season ticket package of 26 games is the fairest it can be and is designed so that our season ticket holders pay the correct price each season for the matches they watch. However, it is clear that our fans have not been fully aware of the fact that even if we do play 26 games in some years they will get a refund, which happened in 2014/15, whilst in other years they will need to pay extra. This is linked to the teams we draw in the cup competitions.
The feedback since our communication last night has demonstrated that we need to find a way to create a better understanding for season ticket holders on how their season ticket is structured. We will commit ourselves to communicating this, and the rationale, very clearly to our fans going forward so that there is no such confusion in the future. Work has already started to address this.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
The Arsenal Box Office
I love the way they try to pin it on the fans for not understanding the issue and the fact it's signed by the box office, not the Chief Executive or anyone with a face or name.
The decision to bring in the surcharge was a long term decision - giving up on implementing the surcharge wont hurt them that much because they have already laid down the marker for all the fans. Their line stating "on this occasion" is telling everyone that in future they wont be so lucky and the surcharge will be enforced, so this was a set up with a view to the long term
Have to say that I got the email that aisa sent out earlier and it impressed me - they said that if the club were going to have an opt out policy for this barca game, then the fans would be looking for an opt out scheme for all cup games in the future
Wow what an embarrassing climb down by the club.
Of course Kroenke will still get his money, he will just take out more money for "advisory fees" but it is good that they have acknowledged they went too far this time.
Just think maybe if there had been this much disgust shown over category a prices in the first place that they would never have been introduced. There is not a chance Liverpool fans will allow their club to introduce £77 tickets.
the fact that they were going to do this in the first place is bad enough. glad they had to retreat on their ridiculous little ploy to extract more money from us

The club are absolutely right to do it, they're running a full proof cash-hoarding operation being subsidised by the most docile submissive weak-willed sheep in football fandom! I'd do exactly the same because at the end of the day, our plain pathetic spineless fanbase will moan a bit, then pitch a tent outside the Emirates in summer to be the first to get the latest kit from the Armoury, after having been fleeced on increased STs.
Kroenke knows what he's dealing with and is taking it in. And the Arsenal fans will accept it. John Henry at Scousers knows that if he pushes it too far the Scousers will react - which is how Hodgson was turfed out. And Rodgers (who actually competed for a title)
The fascinating thing will be if we ever fell out of Top 4. Would love to see Kroenke keep the same pricing structure because I'm pretty sure the sheep would just carry on shelling out!
so what would you do about it besides keyboard warrioring on here - what do you suggest besides never being a ST or regular supporter? faceless:censored:

Fair play to everyone that wrote to the club expressing their anger at this - its about time someone took a stand against that despicable wig wearing James Blunt and his army of expat, faceless pricks he employs to run the club.
By the way I've seen Augie's plans for a party to trump my BBQ.....when Kroenke leaves I guarantee wine, women and song for a month as well as the finest Aberdeen Angus on sizzle 24/7 Perhaps we can have a ceremonial burning of that tosser's wig too

I didn't know Augie wore a wig
Apparently DB10 reckons that I need one - don't know how the short arsed fu.cker can tell from where he stands

Oh wow look at that. A bit of public pressure and the climbdown was fast eh? Said it a thousand times: if the zombies in the Emirates ever grew a pair and turned on the board in public, they'd shit it and instantly offer up Wenker as a sacrificial lamb.
Sadly, Red Action would then stage another Mardi Gras street carnival in Islington, as they shoved lamb chops up their jacksies in solidarity

Aaaaaw diddums. Here's a quick one for you my Emirates-loving sheepie: I once had a Season Ticket. For many years. After the 2008 debacle I jacked it in. Yes you can actually do this - sadly, it requires a spine, which you clearly lack. Not your fault, you're under the spell. You talk as if you're being held hostage in Beirut - you're not. There's lots of better things that could be done with that money.
Your line of questioning very much reminds me of the "who could you replace him with"
You've also seen the poster Augie confirm he jacked his ST in too. So you see...it's easily done.
Like I said though. If you're weak and looking for pathetic excuses for inaction? Then you've got a lot more in common with Arsene than you'd care to admit and you deserve him taking the piss outta you every single season. He knows you'll keep going back for more too! Enjoy...

Spine and theres me thinking you remind me of a Jellyfish as for referencing others my question was to you not someone else (Augie - although you might want curry favours), as for Wenger I wanted him out a long time but butnevertheless doesn't change my question to you besides binning your ST, so again what would / will you do besides type on here?

Classic AKB tactic. I actually did something already - I hit the club where it hurts. If they replace my allocation? So be it, at least I'm not contributing towards it. The irony is, the only ones who can make the atmosphere toxic in the ground, are the passive jokers who keep paying up and claiming "nothing I can do Guv"
Pathetic frankly. You're typing on here and paying up. And you'll pay up again. And when Stan and Arsene ask you to eat that turd on the pitch you'll do it. And when they send you to the shops like a good little lackey, you'll say you've no choice and do it.
They LOVE fans like you!

Typing on here just as you are so pathetic is a mutual common trait then - so in your own words thats a common bond, but nevertheless, besides binning your ST what else have you done/ plan to do to outline your concerns about The Arsenal that you so hold so dear to your heart- in simple terms just answer my question, assuming you have that ability?
Simplistic view here but if you buy a season ticket to include seven cup credits and you get lucky (or maybe unlucky) that the seventh credit is Barcelona then fair play that is a lucky break. That should be the advantage of having a season ticket. You get a few lucky breaks every now and then. I think the club has shot itself in the foot again, but will get away with it because they are playing games with people's emotions.
