Re: HOW DO THEY GET TICKETS
wow the markup on tickets is ridiculous, even for games it would be relatively easy to get a ticket for. our home game against west brom, £105 cheapest ticket ffs

Re: HOW DO THEY GET TICKETS
In the 90's I used to buy tickets in Piccadilly Circus tube station from a fat bloke that had a booth there selling opera and footy tickets. He would just pull out a bundle of dozens of tickets and say "where you want, mate?". I'd say "NB Lower". He'd say "What row?"
He was always above the face value too so he was obviously a tout.

The wife's cousin is high up in a company based in the (uk) midlands, and his company frequently buys batches of tickets for games at the grove, wemberlee etc so that they can entertain customers - of course the prices are inflated so whoever is supplying them isn't above board methinks

I knew this man and he knew someone who has a bridge named after him !DB10GOONER wrote:In the 90's I used to buy tickets in Piccadilly Circus tube station from a fat bloke that had a booth there selling opera and footy tickets. Re: HOW DO THEY GET TICKETS
Back in the day as they say I tried to buy the players tickets for the MUFC 1980 Cup Final as we knew Stapletons Brother .
We offerred a good price but were told that they all went Job lot via the usual channel to stan flashman who was king of the touts in those days ..........at less than we offerred ! ! The players were pissed off but were told that all this was handled inside the club .
The idea was better to pay them 3 x the face value than 5 X ftrom a tout !

In his book, Perry Groves talks about meeting Stan Flashman at his house to get the money for his 1987 Littlewoods Cup tickets. Talks about a fridge full of banknotes and Flashman having a plate of King Prawns for his lunch. He also mentions that every club had their players who would arrange the tickets for Flashman and sort out the payments.Herd wrote:Back in the day as they say I tried to buy the players tickets for the MUFC 1980 Cup Final as we knew Stapletons Brother .

Re: HOW DO THEY GET TICKETS
I knew someone from childhood days who became a "respectable ticket agent" with an office in the West End. He used to supply us with tickets for any Arsenal game we wanted in the late 80s/90s, courtesy of several Arsenal players who used to supply him in return for a large donation.Herd wrote:Stan was once discovererd by a Journo in the boardroom with a current director who has been ast the club all his life ,I guess they were discussing prawns !In his book, Perry Groves talks about meeting Stan Flashman at his house to get the money for his 1987 Littlewoods Cup tickets. Unfortunately, he got ahead of himself and ended up on the run for ripping people off with the promise of tickets for the 94 World Cup in America, that didn't materialise.
