THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

'With a need to kill their reputation as a side that plays pretty football but can’t hack it when the pressure’s on...'

People who write this don't watch matches I watch. In patches we may play pretty football, in actual fact it's pretty all right, pretty boring!! We're slow, sideways, backward passing monotonous and clueless most of the time.

I think Wenger understands it, but he chooses not to acknowledge it anymore. With our current crop he's bred a bunch of choir boys. Theo 'Nice guy' Walcott, 'The Ox', Ramsey to name a few. Yes-men with no balls. The core fanbase however cannot possibly let it slide
And why not? They let 8-2 slide. They let 5-1, 6-3, 6-0 and 3-0 at Everton in the same season slide.
They've let persistent CL abomination slide. They've watched the owner take money out the club, and give that c*** deal after deal and let it slide. They've watched the Chavs become the first London European champs and let that slide.
So why not let Spuds potential win slide too? Can always put it down to "special circumstances" and a "freak season".
They'll just renew their ST and justify that cowardice by pointing to the 247-year waiting list. Plethora of people queuing up to watch Walcott apparently

Wenger isn't an Arsenal fan and in fact he doesn't give a toss. Defeats like yesterday don't hurt him. What hurts him is people puncturing his ego by pointing out his incompetence. That hurts him.

They seem remarkably appropriate right now.

At the end of the day the only thing that will get Wenger to walk away is fan pressure. He will not be able to handle it if its done on a consistent basis after every match. The only way to get that off the ground is the various fan groups uniting and actually getting off their arses and telling it like it is for a change. Arsene Wenger is finished as a top manager and they are the ones who should be organising protest.... should we lose to Spurs Saturday then is the time to get it going. F.uck what it looks like in the media and how they portray us as being classless it needs to be done for the good of our club and we as supporters know it. Even the most ardent Wenger supporters must see that now. It can done in a respectful manner but it HAS to be done.

I made the foolish mistake of reading the comments at the bottom and although they started well it soon degenerated into the usual, 'he deserves the right to stay', 'who would you replace him with', 'Arsenal fans should be grateful for finishing fourth' bandwagon.

Why can't people see that yes it is financially good for us to always finish top 4 and get CL group stage progression but fcuk me is it boring year after year after year.....

Lets say you were a mid table team constantly finishing 10 after flattering to deceive by being up in the top 6 most of the season then dropping away again season after season whilst putting in cup runs to the quarters every year, how long before the fans of that club started feeling a bit jaded, not sure they'd last 12 years..... but we're supposed to accept it.

I'm fairly sure the Victims or the Spuds or even Everton wouldn't be happy with consistently getting 5th or 6th year after year after year and scraping through the Europa league group stage to be immediately knocked out in the round of 32 every season and their manager telling them he didn't need to improve the squad and that they have good mental strength and fighting spirit.

The problem is too many people from the outside looking in have never ever dealt with this situation and don't understand how abjectly boring and repetitive it is. I think i'd actually take a couple of years of restructuring and scrapping for a Europa league spot just to liven things up. (as long as the victims and spuds were behind us)

After we were humiliated by ManYoo in that CL semi where Gibbs slipped and Almunia let in a 40-yard backpass from Ronaldo, I jacked in my ST and refused to give the club a single penny of my money anymore. If 10-20 thousand others followed suit, he'd be history come September.

even ol' arseblog is coming around
