THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wilson wrote:In the grand scheme of things, he has one year to go in his contract. So I dont see the point in him sticking around another year, for what will be no different than the previous 12 years.

Its simple really, unless he finds a way to win the league this season, then he needs to resign.

I dont want him spending money, and signing the likes of Walcott and Giroud to bumper new contracts.

He needs to be rationale, and say to himself, that if he cant beat Liescter City and Tottenham in a title race, then I probably wont be doing it against City, Chelsea or Man United.

Im not even angry, as I just have this realised low expectations of Wenger. I dont hold him in high regard, and I dont expect him to succeed.

But logically speaking, why give Wenger a dead rubber year in 2017?

This has to be his last season.
He's here until 2019. He will never resign. He will never be sacked by this board :suicide:
northbank123 wrote:Not a fucking chance will he walk whatever happens. Not unless there was a complete turning on him by fans at the Bowl in which case he wouldn't be able to resist slagging them off when pressed by journos, and he would burn a lot of his loyal bridges. But we all know that it won't happen, disquiet is only ever one decent result away from being pacified at our place.

We will probably hear about how he nearly decided to quit after the Swansea game when we are top in November - as though that would have been ludicrous and highly damaging. Anybody who believes his comments that he would probably have gone had we lost to Hull is naive in the fucking extreme.

Really hope he gets asked about the booing because he won't be able to help himself with his arrogant, condescending bollocks.
Wilson wrote:Wenger is deadwood the club is carrying. Does the board not realise, that as Paul Merson said, a thousand managers could get this team in the top 4. Its not like we have rubbish and incapable players. The issue is however, they are not responding to Wenger in a positive manner.

They are too comfortable, and seem to have their positions guaranteed at the club. If Giroud were at Chelsea, City and United, his position as the clubs leading striker would be at the minimum, under pressure. However, we have given him 4 years as the unrivaled number 1 striker. He has gone 10 games without scoring a goal - is there going to be any fall out from this failure? Or does Wenger brush it under the carpet?
I agree with you both.
dano wrote:looking at economics from Stan's view, isn't paying off the last part of this year's contract and next years at £10 million cheaper than losing the VT/CL spot? Stan, you are a great business man, you are in danger of losing out on CL revenue, fire the guy.
Good point. But it will never happen :( :banghead:
TeeCee wrote:Why would Arsole Wonga walk away?

In his mind, he does nothing wrong!! This is a serious comment, he genuinely believes it is other peoples fault, always. The man loves himself so much he is beyond accountability. He will NEVER EVER walk away from Arsenal. All of Krankys sporting teams vary from shit to mediocre, why will it bother him that Arsenal are part of that list? As long as the money rolls in to pay for the next 'super ranch' then he won't even bat an eyelid! He's just moved a major sporting team to another city FFS, he has no loyalty or morals, just greed and our manager is equally there on the greed stakes. Leeches the two of them. A new contract is coming for the God 'Wonga'

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Agreed :(

Next year will be spurs, Chelsea, both Manchester clubs, Everton perhaps...... the battle for 6th place will be our new 4th.
He's an absolute fuckhead. We should be leading this league by 15 points at least! What a fucking old fraudulent wanker :censored: :banghead:

Not gonna happen as long as this board personnel and structure remains in place - there is no way simeone would tolerate a losers attitude and would demand success, and of course that might rattle some of the board from their nice comfy lifestyle

I would be happy to see simeone as manager even if it was only for 2 years and even if I knew now that we would win nothing and finish out of the top 4 for those two seasons - I would really like to see a manager come in and wake these over-pampered primadonnas and demand more effort and passion from them  Brainless deadweights who put no effort in and only care about the paycheck (yes I am talking about you wally ) would be fucked out of the club in no time, and even if simeone himself fails, at least he would have cleaned out most of the shite from the squad for whatever manager then replaced him 8)

Anyway it will never happen
I agree. Ambition and ruthlessness about winning do not exist at Cashburton :censored:
Ikechukwu1 wrote:Honestly it just takes every fan to bring a pack of Kleenex to the next game and wave the white hankies. Trust me, Sky sports and chums would be all over that. As for Wenker, he would instantly crack. I mean he's sarcastically giving fans the "thumbs up". The prick is actually taking the piss outta the same people who've subsidise his years of stolen wages. The AKBs look mighty foolish now eh? Wenker just doesn't care about them, or any Gooner.
This is a good idea, but it's unlikely to happen in large enough numbers at Cashburton :(

I'd love to see TOF finally be given the long overdue stick that he deserves, the wanker.

Let's not forget we desperately tried to bottle the FA Cup 2014 final, but managed to pull ourselves out of that, never would have happened against a stronger side.

The only question i want Arsene asked is "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO QUIT!?". If he loved Arsenal that much, he would see that another manager could do a better job, so step aside and let them do it!!!

QUIT QUIT QUIT QUIT QUIT

JUST DO IT!!!
There was a story in the press earlier in the season that claimed he'd likely go in 2017. Now look. He's going to be here until 2019 :suicide:

He's like a communist dictator who is desperately clinging to power when the masses are starting to finally rebel against him and his dogma.

The sad bastard has no life (and no wife, either). He's quite happy to work until he's almost 70 (and likely beyond) :banghead:

As dreadful as it sounds, a lose ot Spurs could see the media go into top gear and really turn the tide. Are we ready to take this one for the team? I think I am!
I don't think losing on Saturday will make an ounce of difference as to when Wenger leaves. There will be more fans revolting, but Wenger has shown time and again, he has no respect for the fans so he won't a give a shit what we think. Also, silent Stan won't be swayed by a lost NLD, only by whether we win the VT. The likelihood is that for all the hysteria from the fans about last nights result, most will be back worshiping Wenger the next game we win.
Sad, but true :banghead:

It's quite ingenious, really. And the perfect revenge, as Wenger and the club constantly pull this tactic on the fans throughout the season.

Wenger leaving will genuinely be one of the happiest moments of my life. I propose a piss-up of epic proportions in The Twelve Pins the day it finally goes down. Hopefully not long to wait now.
All drinks will be on me. Every single one. It will be a day of liberation for every Gooner and we can even tear down that fucking statue of him, Saddam Hussein in Baghdad style! :barscarf:

Maybe we can use the tears of sadness from Kiwomya, BDB and LaughingGooner, and make a pint of "spirit"
To our dearly-departed AKB brethren. I tell you what once Wenker is gone, the next step has to be a complete de-Wenkerification of the club, something I feel Gazidis would be only too happy to do. Too many stories doing the rounds that he and Wenker don't speak and get the impression Gazidis would love to hand him his P45. He's fed up having his name dragged into this shite and I can see why.
Anyone ever seen that ridiculous wall in Club Level? A wall dedicated to "Wenger's Firsts@. It's honestly absolutely pathetic.

Maybe they could change the wall with alternative Wenker firsts like...you know...
First Arsenal manager to lose 8-2....
First Arsenal manager to lose 6-0, 5-1, 6-3 on same season...
First Arsenal manager to spend 18 years in CL without winning it...
First Arsenal manager to lose a 4-goal lead...

Etc etc etc

hes signed a new contract already when we win the fa cup again it will be announced.

the only way hes leaving is when god chooses.

Do NOT Bring Bergkamp into this he probably dislikes wenger as much as some of us on here.

Actually when you think about it, it's worse. Wenger is the most successful coach/manager SS employees. :banghead: He gets in the top 4 every year, really the CL is like the playoffs to Stan. Luckily I love a beer or else that would drive you to drink. So a quick question after 1400+ pages, why would Stan sack his most successful manager who makes him a shit load of cash? After all others would be in the firing line before AW.

PS sorry to depress anyone. if you have a good answer I'd like to know
I think the term 'Pay Offs' is more suited mate...

"Maybe its time for him to move upstairs now"

Honest to god, why does everyone from outside AFC naturally assume that he has some god given fucking right to stay on at the club in some capacity?

Call that turning mate? Please read the proviso in that first headline again please:

"If Wenker does not win the league this year or next"

Sorry but hold on a minute. Isn't that just another way of saying "give him another summer to fuck things up?"
What would be different next year? THIS year Citeh don't care, Chavs imploded, ManYoo are pathetic. There's literally zero competition and zero chance ALL THREE big teams will ever again be so utterly shit at once. The 2 favourites for the PL are a team who escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth last season, and another team who last won the league when Pele could still get it up
What the fuck is that gutless fuckwit Cross on about "next year"? What Wenker will have a chance v Pep, Klopp, Mourinho and Conte when he chat even deal with Ranieri? Nah. Sling your hook NOW Wenker. Cross can line up to be purged with the rest of the AKBs Steve I, LaughingLoon, Kiwomya, etc when the revolution finally topples this despicable cretinous dictatorship.
