But his replacement might not do as "well". Arsenal were a Division 3 outfit pre-Wenger! How can you expect people to accept the risk of losing out on the nailbiting race for 4th season after season? Not to mention the thrill of the Last 16 draw CL draw where we can see if we can avoid one of the five or six teams who will actually go on and win it.

That's the problem with me mate i am so bloody old I can remember those defenders, those were the days.
Pundits always say that teams defend well against us, but it's not that hard. Even when we were needing a goal we were tippy taping in our own half instead of getting it forward. Defences just have loads of time to get back and make it hard for us. In the first 5 mins we played well and were unlucky not to score. After that, tippy tappy tippy tappy.

Mertesacker is a disgrace. Ducked away from the first goal because he's scared of challenging for the header. Gave Deeney all the time in the world for the second to wait and pick a lay-off under zero pressure. Then to top it all off instead of trying to block the shot he stands still, covers his bollocks (which must be the size of raisins) and turns his back on the shot.
The man is a complete fucking coward and if that pathetic excuse is the closest thing we have to a defensive leader it explains a lot.
