As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

we are the same price (150/1) to win 3-0 which is what we require, as Barcelona are to win 8-0
Barcelona are just 66/1 to win 7-0, so that is considered by the bookmakers to be more likely than us qualifying

They can stay comfortably in 2nd gear (knowing they can up it a gear if need be) and not risk picking up silly injuries being inflicted by Coquelin or Gabriel going in 2 feet over the ball in some lame attempt to show "passion".
1-2 to The Whores. Or maybe 0-2 to the Whores. Who cares?
Meaningless game.
Disagree...probably the most important game of recent years because of all the differing repercussions off the field. A win secures wenger's place, a glorious defeat on goal difference, or an acceptably loss will keep the press off him till the end of season, a humiliating defeat would see the pressure from fans, press, and media reach magnitudes greater than the Jose at chavski.
Do you honestly think there will be any more than a couple days backlash in the media? We win against Everton and our "title challenge" is back on - that is how fickle the football media is. As for our fans??? Seriously? If getting destroyed and humiliated 8-2 by a pretty pedestrian Manure side could raise no more than a muted grumbling do you honestly think even a hiding at the hands of "the best team in the world" would raise more than a few mutterings, the odd rant and mostly excuses?
Honestly, it's a meaningless game in that we won't win and get through, the result will not change the status quo - it certainly won't have any impact on Wenger's tenure and we will all be here again this time next year in the same situation. Sad, but true.
I see your point about the Everton game, but a serious thrashing will turn the tide against Wenger in the media, regardless of the Everton result. The best outcome for wenger is to lose 2-0/ 3-0. Remember the 4-1 defeat in 2010 we had a weakened team with 5 out injured from the 1st leg. messi was outstanding that game and easily could have had 8 goals. The following season RVP got a red card for shooting just as the whistle blew, and bendtner shot wide when easier to score which would have taken us through. All viable reason for a defeat, however, with the way things are at the moment with the press pushing wenger on his inadequacies, the supporter unrest, and general feeling of an end of era...a humiliating defeat 6-0 or above, on top of the 5-1 hammering by Bayern (which seems to have been forgotten about) will put wenger under enormous pressure.
the best thing that can happen tonight is for Wenger to have a total meltdown in the post match interviews.
can anyone get Jaqui Oatley on a plane out there?
Love to see Wenger and Bouldie fighting on the touchline. Wenger maybe bottling bouldie with a plastic water-bottle. Bouldie dragging him round the pitch by the hood of his sleeping bag.....Fukin scenes.

Only if Arsene gave Steve permission, mind.
And he would have to do all that in silence seeing as bould hasnt spoken in the last 3 years
Oh jolly good. Theo has done an interview. For a change. He's made a Braveheart style speech calling on us to summon "the spirit of Okympiakos" . That famous night in Athens up there with Anfield in 89 and Copenhagen. Proper inspired now
BFG4 wrote:Wenger, "we need to attack, that suits us". Yeah cause being 2-0 down is actually an advantage
Don't forget when we attack, Barca will be driven back and trapped in the last 3rd of the field in a desperate attempt to keep us out. It's not in their nature to counter attack and even if it were, our back four is way too experienced to get caught out of position
I suppose its fortunate Ramsey is out.
Given his regular holding midfield position it would have completely alien for him to go recklessly bombing forward and leave large gaps behind him for the opposition midfielders to exploit when he back heels the ball into their path.

I think Theo is a great example of that 'mental strength' Wenger was referring to. It doesn't matter how pathetic his performances (and the teams) are, he still has the confidence to do these bollox interviews. The really funny part is that even in a parallel universe in which we found ourselves still in the tie, and needing another goal, good old Theo would shit himself with an open net.
foxinthebox2001 wrote:The team are currently drawing straws to see who will be reported in Wednesdays Evening Standard claiming 'we have nothing to fear from Barcelona' and 'we can still win this for Arsene'.
So Theo steps forward.
"We are going to have to be very patient obviously but the most important thing is to keep it 0-0 for as long as possible and who knows?
Keep it 0-0? I thought Clueless said its all out attack, and isnt Theo the one thats fond of dribbling the ball out of his own area?

It's worse than that, he didn't even get a shot in. In fact, despite scoring a goal, we didn't manage a single shot all game. Another of Wenger's infamous records
