Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Getting a bit pissed at these pundits and ex-players saying we should get behind the players, as far as i can tell the ire is aimed at two people only, Kroenke and Wenger, how exactly does giving Wenger abuse equate to not being behind the players
Oh yeah i forgot Wenger is the players........
me these pundits are shit if they can't tell the difference

Oh yeah i forgot Wenger is the players........

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
What is happening now is ensuring that, even if he does see out his contract, he wont sign a new one, even if it is offered.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
How do you work that out mate? Been here many many times beforearmchair wrote:What is happening now is ensuring that, even if he does see out his contract, he wont sign a new one, even if it is offered.
The mood will soon change next season when we're cruising in November and the speculation about his future brings out the I Luv AW t-shirts. We'll qualify for the last 16 again and Gazidis and Wiggy will have persuaded him that a new £9m per year deal will be worth a few mild boos and the occasional brush in with the Stoke Three

No, we havent been here before. Its coming to an end mate. Trust me. If not this season, then next.SteveO 35 wrote:How do you work that out mate? hope he feels unappreciated. i know it's not nice, but if we keep reeling out the banners maybe he'll think leaving at the end of 2017 will be his way of punishing us. i certainly hope so, i think the media will take a dim view of his inability to finish above leicester this season, without actually calling for him to go of course.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I honestly hope you're right, I really do. I just think people always think it feels different because its current. I don't think the flak coming his way now is any worse than when we lost 8-2 and were 17th after 4 games, or when we lost the first game 1-3 at home to Villa and hadn't signed anyone. He also copped a load of shit when we lost 0-3 at Everton a couple of years back which saw us slump from 1st to 5th in the space of 8 weeks. Also after the Birmingham cup final and Bradford cup defeat he got bundles. I certainly haven't seen anyone this season give him any shit as the Stoke Three did last season.armchair wrote:No, we havent been here before. Its coming to an end mate. Trust me. But as I say.....I hope you're right. Personally I think the so called 'flak' he's taking will make him even more determined to stick 2 fingers up to us and the doubters and see him stay for 3 more years
What makes you think its different this time?
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
The media have seen us in shit form, and our chances of winning anything gone, and the most I've seen from them Is criticising the guys with the banner. The media spend a few days criticising Wenger after a defeat, but will usually defend him, and will be mentioning the remarkable achievement of finishing top 4 before the season is over.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:hope he feels unappreciated. i know it's not nice, but if we keep reeling out the banners maybe he'll think leaving at the end of 2017 will be his way of punishing us. i certainly hope so, i think the media will take a dim view of his inability to finish above leicester this season, without actually calling for him to go of course.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
A couple reasons. There are deffo more fans turning to want him gone. The unrest and protests, banners is much more sustained. What makes you think its different this time?). Because of this there is far more discussion in the media, ex-players like Smudger and Petit are publicly calling for him to step down. Its unprecidented and its because of fan pressure to begin with.

I still think you can't underestimate what a stubborn old goat he is, and I also think there are as many ex-players saying "he's earned the right to decide when he leaves" that will let him blank out what the odd ex like Smudger or Petit say. Ian Wright - who I absolutely love to bits - was an absolute cock today when put on the spot before the game when the BT interviewer asked him "So...is it time for change?". He put out an answer that suggested that if West Ham overtook us and saw us slip into 5th then the 'summer would be interesting'.........oh, so finishing a distant 2nd, 3rd or 4th behind Leicester Fucking City means you and all the other worshippers think that's enough to stay?
There's some swatting of holiday bound clubs still to come between now and season end and if we finish above the Spuds - which I 100% expect to happen - then the mood will soon soften
BUT.......I sincerely hope you're right and I would never have been so glad to be wrong when he announces he's leaving at the end of next season

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Used to be every time we were playing the media would say ...."Arsene Wenger - built the Emirates, qualifies for CL, great football."
Now they are asking......"Arsene Wenger - is it time for change?"

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Funny thing is we could still win the league! We usually embark on winning run at this stage of season to haul us back into top 4 ! I still think leicester have too many difficult games to play ! Spuds have pool utd and chavs and are perrenial bottlers! Whereas our hardest games are against teams involved in clge and fa cup !
It would be incredulous if we did win it ! I wouldnt know how to feel cos we have ben shit this season! But imagine pipping those *word censored* on last day if the season i would still want wenker gone but what a twist in the tale ut would make

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Give up the dream Sid - its no coincidence to me that we've supposedly had our 2 best performances of recent times in the last 2 games when the CL was already done, and the league is gone. Even if by some miracle we reeled Leicester back in with a game or two to go, the minute the expectation swung our way the old yellow streak and brown skidmarked pants would return anyway....goonersid wrote:Funny thing is we could still win the league! Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Arsene Wenger said it "hurt" that his players' attitude was questioned and believes Arsenal passed a "mental test" to beat Everton on Saturday.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Im not hoping mate ! I would love leicester to do it but just pointing out we are by no means out of it against 2 sides with no experience or previous of bottling from seemingly unbottleable situations ie lasgnegate and mind the gapSteveO 35 wrote:Give up the dream Sid - its no coincidence to me that we've supposedly had our 2 best performances of recent times in the last 2 games when the CL was already done, and the league is gone.
