Dear "realists"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Spudmasher, you dont half like telling people where to go dont you, if it was up to you it would just be you and about 7 of your mates on here talking, ive seen several threads which end with you telling someone 'if you dont like it you can fuck off' or something similar, its not that good coming from a mod is it?

I think it might have gone to your head slightly? you sound like an old headmaster talking to a child who is refusing to wear the correct school unform 'well thats the uniform here sunny, if you dont like it, you can just go off and find another school' i think you should try to cut this out a bit

fair enough the lad said some silly things, but a couple of them were quite funny, no need to go over the top.
Yes, and as soon as you are involved in it you immediately have a pop at me :awnker: Patronising c**t
so, where is that yawn emoticon
just making a point that any time someone says something you dont like you tell them to fuck off and find another forum to post on....youve got to chill out
then how about in future you just don't "make a point"!

From hereonwards I shall not be commenting on or replying to a single one of your posts because I think you are a pedantic little firestarter that is here solely to piss people off. Maybe you can move on to a new target now!
I suggest you don't reply or comment to any of my posts either. I clearly get under your skin.

Now leave it at that and move on FFS.

You have just proved his point mate!

Neither of us have a problem with you, we dont really have a problem with anyone on here - despite the fact our views often differ, what is annoying and frustrating - (and probably why we both get so angry in some of our posts) is that we are in the minority......im not actually acusing you of this buteven when we win people still come on here and moan "we are not going to win the league" "we are shit" "Wenger out"........its just bollocks, and myself and swale feel so passionately about the club that we, for want of a betetr phrase, actually love defending it. Il be honest, i love the fact Arsenal have exceedded everybodys pre-season expectations because some of the shite being written over the summer was well over the top, and im glad i had my say, as im sure Swale is.

I always read your posts, and to be fair they are sometimes quite balanced - but you do come across as somebody who foesnt like it when somebody disagree's with them, and you would just prefer it if it was you and your mates, whether that is the case, im sure its not, but thats how it reads sometimes. If one of your mates says something its funny, if it is somebody else, they dont always get the same treatment. If Swale had posted 6 threads about wining the legue at WHL would yo have laughed? No, you would have got angry and closed them down.

As swale says, for two people that are deemed "trouble makers" - we have not really been involved in this realist thread, i was at the start when yourself and me were discussing it fine. We just want Arsenal to win, we have a great chance of winning the league with 7 games to go - you have to admit you never belived that at the start - frankly all i care about is staying in this title race, not about bragging to the people who spent 4 months doubting Arsenal, as im sure they will celebrate just as hard as we will.

To be fair BDB. I don't consider you to be a troublemaker at all. I think you usually put yourself across quite well. Unfortunately your mate doesn't.

I reserve the right to have an opinion just like anyone else. When we win I don't come on here going on about "we're shit" or "Wenger out" at all! I get accused of it but don't do it. I do come on here and point out that we shouldn't get carried away etc. The trouble is that people often read what they want to as opposed to what is written. For example:- I still don't think we'll win the league this year! I hope we do, I would love us to, but I don't think we will. That isn't because I hate Arsenal, it's because I don't see the others dropping 4 points more than we will. They may well do exactly that, in which case, Great!
Unfortunately there are some people here that will consider that to be too negative. Your friend is one of them. I'd be accused of not wanting us to win just to be right! How fucking stupid is that? I can't be arsed with him any longer. He lacks the basic capacity to reason!
It's a shame it has come to this but I don't have the time or the inclination to bother with him. Life's too short to concern myself with people that clearly have issues. So I take the decision to back away and leave him to his own doing and that apparently means I have "proven his point"!!!!
Fine, let it be, I cannot be doing with this childishness any longer.

BDB, I don't know if you and swale are passionate about the club or passionate about its current regime. Some would argue that questioning the way the club is run is no less a sign of passion that following it blindly.

I have questioned the under investment in the team for a club which has had the advantage of consistent CL. It seemed to me that the playing side was neglected since 2004 and what should have been a launchpad turned out to be a peak. Nobody asked for 30m per year but we made a consistent transfer profit year on year since the invincibles. The balance was/is wrong. If, however, we pick up a trophy this year AW is vindicated and (for me) would be his biggest achievement.

I agree with some of the things you and Swale say but sometimes you act like Wenger's witnesses delivering the clock tower. You are quick to deride others for not being proper fans: I think Swale once patronised Augie for posting while a match was in progress, implying he wasn't a proper fan. But then last night BDB posted during the West Ham game (while Augie was sat in the stadium with his family cheering on the gooners). I think you will be ok though BDB, Swale may well let that slide.

This shows, however, how plastic some of your judgements are. Posting during a game is obviously irrelevant and not a barometer of supporter. The pair of you seem to have an amazing ability to quantify passion for Arsenal and then always measure your love for AFC at the summit. This is childish nonsense.

The point being that you can take a joke fine when it is you or people you know well, but not so much when it is someone you dont know - hence my example of the thread thing - i commented, i saw the funny side - but im not sure you would have reacted in the same way had one of us done it.

Anyway, all the matters now is Liverpool remember hoe to play football again......we will see.

That's because it is different dependant upon who it comes from. I accept having the piss taken out of me by a friend, but not by somebody I don't know. That is totally reasonable! I only take the piss out of my friends, not others. I'd expect a smack in the mouth if I did.
As regards the multiple thread. I did it deliberately to make a point. I wasn't trying to be funny at all, I was annoyed. You would be if you had to read them all. We constantly ask for people to check before starting new threads. Still people don't check because they don't give a toss. They would if they had to read them all too. It's inconsiderate but I do understand that people give a toss about others far less today in this "only I matter" society that is evolving.

And yes, let's hope Liverpool can sneak a draw.

I was actually nodding my head at some of your points until that part. Ours, and actually, nobodys views are "plastic". I accept your points about the under-investment, but there are two ways of going about building a team, and we seem to have gone the "home-produced" (in terms of devlopment not nationality), and i think it actually makes it better myself, i fel an affiliation for players like Clichy, Fabregas as ive watched them play in the reserves, carling cup etc and seen them develop. Arsenal have actually spent a faur amount of players (Nasri, AA, TV in recent years), we must have financial constrictions due to the stadium- yet we are always in the upper relams of the league, in semi-finals, finals and providing exciting football. Im not saying i wouldnt have liked to have seen a trophy in that time, but i still feel that some people forget just how fortunate we are to have a team, a manager, and a playing phiosophy that we do - even if it is not without fault.

(Note - i posted at before the game and at the breakdown after the pen incident, i cant go to sat games due to Rugby matches and i enjoy the odd post)

The plastic comment was not aimed at your views. I said judgements. This was aimed at the judgements you two make of others. For example those which deride posting during a match and the belief that supporter can be readily measured and then judged by reading posts. For me, posting during a game is good. If you can't get to the game its great to share it's highs and lows with a gooner.

I understand about home grown and like the fact we have a good conveyor belt. The balance seems to be out of kilter, though. In all things Arsenal I am a worryer. Supporting Arsenal, for me is like pacing outside the delivery room. I think we are going to be a keeper and striker short of a trophy. If I am wrong though and AW delivers silverware it will be remarkable.

This reminds me of the first time I ever watched a live match with a bunch of Arsenal fans.
It was the 1995 Cup Winners' Cup Final and I went to a Paddington bar in Sydney because the Sydney Arsenal Supporters Club was watching the match there.
I didn't know anyone, but was really looking forward to it.
I stupidly assumed that because we were all Gooners we'd all be brothers-in-arms.
When Zaragoza got that horrible winner which went over Seaman's head, a chap started berating Seaman as a "northern monkey c*nt" and some other Arsenal fans (presumably from up north) got very aggro and before you knew it it was all on.
Gooners fighting Gooners FFS!!!
I couldn't believe it.
There's lots of opinions on this forum I disagree with (for example I think anyone who believes in religion and "God" is an absolute fuckwit), but I'd be bored shitless if everyone thought exactly the same way as I do.
