Dear "realists"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sorry, but what's the point as an Arsenal fan slagging of other types of fans? We all want the same things Trophies!

Regardless whether your optimistic, realistic or Isometric.

Er yes, but the sence of irony here is a little too much to behold.

So don't come here if you can't cope with it

What you fail to understand is that nothing would make us happier than our being wrong about this teams ability to go the whole way.
Where we benefit is that we get the whole experience of being a football supporter. We get the elation when we win and the despair when we lose. If your expecting a win all the time then you only ever really get the disappointment.

We're all Arsenal fans at the end of the day. Brothers & Sisters you could say.
We're all entitled to our opinions and that is what they are....opinions!

I think it's wrong to start gloating when things go right or wrong, especially to another fellow Gunner! :?

Each and everyone I suppose!

Id say there is an element of "safeness" about realists, us rostinters put our neck on the line early season saying we believed the team had a chance this year, and come January - we do.

By saying we didnt have a hope, your obviously happy we do, but can bring out the "i told you so" card when we dont. I dont think its right to say us roseys dont get the dispair - we do, probably more because we are so convinced we can do well

Im not saying we will win the league, football relies on so many external factors as well, but we have a chance and we are good enough to contend - thats all you can ask for in January really. :barscarf:

I'm not saying you don't get the despair, I'm saying you don't get the unexpected delight. Basically because you have already set your mind for the positive result.
I think this is a good team we have. I just don't think it's great!

We do, any game against a big four side for example is a game we could lose - Anfield away for example, and Chelsea away last year are examples. Do i think we are better than Chelsea? No.

I think the difference is we are just more believing in what we have, I totally agree it isnt our greatest squad - but there is some real class in there, as well as a determination to succeed.

There is no reason why we cant win the prem this year - not saying we will - but we are good enough - no doubt the next few weeks will dictate what happens!

For me personally i believe in the majority of the players and really think that there a few holding us back (almunia + denilson to name a few) and the man to blame for that is wenger, why he won't go out and spend the extra few million on bringing a good team up a level to a great team ?

but we are good enough
This is where i'm yet to be convinced if i'm honest. I agree with you about there being class players in the squad & that we can't ask for anymore in January but i still don't think we possess a good enough team/squad to win the title. Just my gut feeling, just don't feel right, still something missing...But again, like everyone else, hope I'm wrong! :barscarf:

If we dont win a trophy come May i doubt you'd find a 'realist' producing a thread like this as all of us gooners would be gutted. This thread is

Some weeks i'm a rosey other weeks i'm a realist. Like when we play absolute shite (chavs at home)i accept that it may not go our way this season, and when we play amazing (everton first game) i think this is it.

I think the difference is that "realists" while recognising what makes roseys happy also recognise what may get in the way.

ie

The squad we have is good enough to win the league(rosey point of view)

The squad we have is good enough to win the league, but not consistant enough to do so (realist)

either way i couldn't give a shit if you're either. It all makes for good debate (most of the time) and as long as we win something i'll take the told you so's and i was rights any day.

Up the Gunners
