As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

or maybe let's make dennis bergkamp teach theo walcott how he can score 30 goals a season?
Well you asked a specific question and were given a specific answer!! Maybe the reason an Arsenal defence made up of Eboue, Senderos, Toure and Flamini - who even their own mothers wouldn't say were 'excellent players' in those positions - had such a good record was because they got coached by someone, Keown, that was an excellent defender and knew what he was talking about. It really is that simple!!!
But he's really difficult to play against. The rest of his defence know what he's going to do, and he gives 110%. Although Vermaelen may have more pace, a sweeter left foot, better finishing ability, Terry will stop the other side more often.
Some of the tackles, cynical fouls and hoofed clearances in the run up to the CL final were outstanding.

Sometimes things just go your way, and the fact we've been so, so ridiculously poor defensively both before and after that run of clean sheets suggests to me that it was..... dare I say it.... A FLUKE!
Lets not forget Bert’s part in it either - a midfield anchorman whose role was to sit in front of the back four offering it protection, who… wait for it… sat in front of the back for and offered it protection!
Plus our ability to keep possession was a form of defence in itself. Pretty hard for the opposition to hurt you if they don’t have the ball. These days we generally have at least 2 or 3 players in the side at any one time whose passing & control is erratic at best, shite at worst - hence too often we give the ball away a lot more cheaply.
Wenger’s never really been much of a tactician as such & his/our own players have practically said as much in the past. Pretty sure it was Cesc a season or 2 ago who said Wenger never has the team study how the opposition plays or even makes any reference at all either to how to counter another team’s specific tactics or style of play, how to impose our own game when the opposition wont let us or how to stop a specific player etc. He pretty much says the same thing before every game no matter who we’re playing, along the lines of “just go out & play.â€
