BOJDE LFC wrote: Well he got us to the level that we were getting into the last eight and four of the Champions League every year and finishing one year with our highest points total ever in the Premier League so I would say that that's proof of the quality of players he's brought in. I don't get how luck comes into it, I can imagine if '89 was reversed the amount of 'luck' Liverpool got. Luck is just an excuse when someone can't think of a logical answer. You make your own luck as the saying goes. Look at the amount of own goals that have benefited United this season, they were not all down to 'luck'.
I think luck is a huge part of football, but as you say, you make your own luck and you can't knock Liverpool's CL victory. In a similar way, you can't knock Greece's European Championships triumph, because as you say - you make your own luck, and the history books say Greece won the cup. End of, I suppose.

That said, I do think the league is a better indication of a teams quality and progress. As, lets be honest, over 38 games there is NO WAY Greece would have been crowned the best team in Europe... bit over a few cup games, they had a chance. Same goes for Liverpool, as didn't you finish 5th that season?

History shows us that you don't have to be the best team to win a cup (Greece winning the Euro's, Wimbledon & Pompey winning the FA Cup, FC Porto winning the CL, etc) but it's very rare that an average team comes out on top over an entire league season because luck tends to even itself out over long periods and the cream rises to the top (or that's the theory  )

I think Rafa, for the time and money he's invested, will look back at the 6 years or so he's been at Liverpool and feel he probably either underachieved in the LEAGUE or maybe came out on par.... and certainly not overachieved!

Liverpool have certainly been a very good cup team in recent years, but I'm not sure Rafa was the man to break the 20 year wait for the title, and I honestly think him leaving is a blessing in disguise for Liverpool.

Time will tell, though.

Considering he was two goals away (wrongly disallowed goal at home) against Stoke from lifting the title in 2008/09 shows that he could have won us the title. If you think that it's a blessing in disguise that he's gone then you are sadly mistaken, what decent manager would take over us with the owners we have in charge?

Who the fuck cares
Too fucking right. If I cared about the bin dippers- other than revelling in their misery- I'd go on the dole, wear a shellsuit, shag my relatives, cheat the social, light candles every two minutes, host Blind Date, get other teams banned from European football, blame it all on Mrs. Thatcher, claim I was really funny and probably live in a cardboard box. As it is, I don't really give a shit about them. Especially on an Arsenal supporters' forum.

Hmmm, sorry Bojde, you go on about luck in your previous posts, then whinge about disallowed goals, you can't have it all ways, every team has goals that are incorrectly disallowed during a season. :?

I was stating how close Rafa was to leading us to the title, two pieces of luck would have got us it. The disallowed goal wouldn't have been luck if it had been awarded. Not trying to pinpoint these individual incidents, just pointing out the thin line we lost the title over.

Who cares? I would say you two with a combined post count of 14 in this thread. Just to be fair like.

Oh and lads, is it really neccessary to just insult Bodje when he comes on here? He is a welcome guest, posts decent stuff, doesn't take the piss, isn't a scum fan or a faux manc...

Sometimes it's good to hear the views of fans of other teams.

It's up to yourselves of course, but I feel the insults are a bit unwarrented and uneccessary.

Agree with DB10. I don't think BOJDE LFC deserves the stereo-typical scouser gags that often automatically follow any of his posts. As my mod colleague pointed out, he's not a wind up merchant (unlike some gooner regulars!!) nor does he coming on here bragging when Liverpool win or piss-taking when we lose.

Bojde Lfc's posts, whether you agree with them or not, are usually sincere and are just giving another perspective. He shouldn't be insulted for that and I would be sad and displeased if he felt he couldn't come on here occasionally to express a point of view because of the insults.

Fair play that a couple of the forum stalwarts have tried to debate Bojde on the actually points raised rather than where he comes from and the flawed characteristics of that community. So let's be a bit more grown up about things eh lads and debate rather than insult. That way we all win. 8)

I feel very sorry. I am ashamed of myself and have let Arsenal down. Can I sing a Beatles song to make up for it?

She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah.

After all, I just wanna hold your hands.

Perhaps a song from 80/90s pop sensation Sonia instead?

I know what you trying to say Bojde, I'm merely pointing out that we can always point to a disallowed goal here, a dodgy penalty decision there, (Brum's one against us a couple seasons ago), if it wasn't for that, Eduardo's broken leg.... (etc, etc, etc), WE could have won the league that season. :?
