England 2018 World Cup bid

Ok, so FIFA decided that our bid was weaker than Russia? Portugal/Spain? and Holland/Belgium???

There's no way that's legit, surely? - The media have fucked us over royally on this one :x

That's it - Panorama and the BBC are going on the c**t thread! :banghead:
That's right , FIFA being dishonest and corrupt isn't why we lost but because the media including The Sunday Times were out of order exposing it.. ......unless you are being funny in which case apologies
I think he's being serious

Of course I'm being serious - yes, FIFA are corrupt, that's common knowledge. That's why we needed to handle them with kid gloves. If you shake the hornets nest when you want a favour from them, then expect to get stung.... obviously.

Hosting a world cup would have been a huge boost for England, and the financial benefits would have been staggering - certainly more beneficial to the country than exposing curruption in an organisation we already knew was corrupt - and then following it up with a Panarama show that went over old ground as the vote approached.

So you seem to be of opinion that England had a chance winning the bid, if only British media kept quiet about corruption within FIFA...how naive

Anyway, unlike England, Russia never had a chance to organize tournament...so good luck to them.

I was well behind the bid, until they added ****** Keynes as a possible venue.

I am certain me retracting my support of the England bid probably caused the FIFA delegates to vote in the way they did.

Yes, guy from Sunderland rang in to R5 and blamed them!

8)
:?: :D

People are just being silly with all this blame game...didn't Paris had everything ready for Olympics 2012 and it was given to London because of this great idea of 'development'...now same thing had happened with Russia and Quatar...so I say good luck to them...

Equating London beating Paris, to Qatar say beating the US or Australia, is ridiculous mate.

Qatar threw shitloads of oil money at it, and that's why they won it. Like Russia. The rest is a big show.

See thats why i cant understand this new frontiers shit. If they were that concerned about it why not bring it to Australia where football falls behind cricket and rugby in terms of popularity.

It's all about which government offers the most money, the most relaxed laws for FIFA to work under, the least scrutiny, the best contracts...I think you get the point.

Russia and qatar are not exactly bastions of free press. And that's the way FIFA like it.

Almost double Qatar's population attended the 2010 World Cup. So every single Qatari will have to be involved in the World Cup while also providing security, accomodation, etc for the other 1.5 million who will be needed to make up the numbers. How will that work?

and TWO VOTES....what a joke

Fuck FIFA, its our fucking sport- fucking arseholes from fucking shithole countries (3 fucking votes for a bloke from fucking Trinidad- they hardly even fucking play football in the fucking Caribbean for fucks sake) deciding if we should have a fucking world cup (even a fucking swiss person in a key fucking position- the fucking swiss werent so quick to make a fucking decision when there was a world war on like), its a fucking joke. We invented the sport you set of corrupt fuckers, go fuck yourselves, we should be able to have a world cup any time we fucking want. Fucking money grabbing back hand taking cock sucking pricks the fucking lot of them. Rant over. *word censored*. Not fucking happy.

Why the eye rolling? - is that necessary?

I don't think it's naive to think that exposing corruption in the same corrupt organisation that was about to vote on our right to host a world up could have hindered our chances.

It's human nature that people don't want to be accused of being dirty rotten scoundrels - and it's human nature tohold a grudge when exposed as corrupt.

Not for a second am I suggesting we were a shoe in to host it, but did it help? no chance. Did it hinder? almost certainly, surely. These corrupt *word censored* are a tight little group who wouldn't have liked the accusations/proof of corruption coming out of England.
