be positive, Chelsea aren't even in the final yet. Just hope atletico are as cynical as can be and make things very difficult. If Chelsea go through, hopefully terry and hazard get a suspension.

As for todays game, those who moan about the CL who is moaning now, it's a great competition high level football and Madrid crush Bayern passing team. Atmosphere was great.

Pepe, Modric and Coentrao were brilliant.

i have the awful awful feeling that it is written that maureen n the chavs are going to win it.

:banghead:

And am I right in saying that if that happened we wouldn't be in next seasons champs league ? I suppose that is one consolation if the scummy chavs do win it. It would be ironic that a team that has been top more than any other this season, didn't qualify for the champs league having finished 4th in a 2 horse race
You would be wrong.

There is some poetic justice in Alonso being suspended for the final after that shit he pulled getting deliberately suspended when Mourinho was there.

Real were awesome tonight. I hope they go all the way no matter who their opponents are.

As somebody above said their last manager might know something about the team.....
Quite, but there's knowing all about them and being able to stop them. Liverpool were arguably Europe's form team going forward but Real Madrid have to be the most talented, the one team I'd want in the final to prevent Chelsea winning it (as we say, if they get through!)

Whilst it was a humiliating defeat BBC claimed that it has increased pressure on Guardiola and that the team hasn't progressed as the Bayern hierarchy had hoped under him. Don't get me wrong, Guardiola was dealt a hand that anyone could win with. But wrapping up the Bundesliga by October tearing up records all the way, through to the German Cup Final and until this tie had cantered through to the CL semis with relative ease? Seems like he's done okay to me.

As an aside, Real's third goal tonight really brought back memories of one of many goals scored by us like that in the Invincibles era...at Leeds I think....Bergkamp wins the ball on the edge of our box, 3 passes and 8 seconds later it is in the back of Leeds' net, via Parlour, Henry and Pires. Give me fast and powerful counter attacking over 'tika taka' anyday.

You have to remember that second place is currently occupied by a side that lost at home to us and fourth place is occupied by a side that lost 5-0 at home to United

The Bundesliga is absolute shit - that's the only reason Bayern won it at a canter.

They're obviously a world class team, but they're not that good - as Real Madrid will attest.

Honestly think we could've given them a go with a full strength team and 11 men on the pitch in both legs.

Say whatever you want about how the Champions League is a waste of time but there's no place I'd rather be. The atmosphere, drama, quality is absolutely immense. Just ask Utd if they're happy to take no part in it next season.

Just as Bayern thought it couldn't get any worse !

Bayern Munich will beat several Premier League clubs to land QPR's France striker Loic Remy, 27, in a deal worth £15m.

Must have been that all action display on Monday night that sealed it !

The group stages are drudgery to say the least, and our continuous failures in the early knock out rounds drive us to hating the competition , but when it reaches nights like last night you want to be there...
Anyway we have to get fourth because we are in the Cup Final...if we fail to win VT the only way to avoid football on ITV4 on a Spursday Night would be to lose the Cup Final.
