I have a feeling that Tavares will move forward and develop into a box to box midfielder where his athleticism will be more suited and his positional awareness less important.

I must have then as I have always defended xhaka, he's no world beater but pretty solid and played some nice defence splitting passes against Leeds.

I guess other ex pro footballers like wrighty who said he's been excellent (bit of a stretch but many of our players have been either) lately no nothing of football either.

Watch him score the winner against the spuds :barscarf:
Top notch WUMing there Lefty. :D  But I'm not falling for this one!

Edu Gaspar wants to sign Aaron Hickey for Arsenal ‘as a replacement for the disappointing Nuno Tavares’, with ‘€20m on the plate’. ‘According to British sources, direct contact’ is expected between Arsenal & Bologna ‘in the next few hours’. [@corrierebologna via @Sport_Witness] https://t.co/l1BDMUv0Te

No doubt tavares has been poor for the last few months, but am I the only one who thinks that we should be giving him more time ? He is still young and inexperienced and has moved to a new country, and I would rather give him a chance to have a second season bounce back, then spend money on a left back that I feel should be prioritised elsewhere
Hes two footed like Tommy so a solution for cover on both sides makes sense.

Agreed Augster! In his first few games he played well, he has good close ball controls and decent pace, just needs to be moved from Back-Line into mid-filed on the flank or semi-centre...Give him time and he'll develop, mind you look what Carpet Head did with Guendouzi - all he needed was 'Man Management' - Not being ostracised  :?

According to @abolapt, Arsenal are showing interest in Porto’s winger Pepê. He has a 51 million release clause. Pepe is one of the most popular names on Arteta’s list. The Brazillian joined Porto from Gremio in 2021, and his importance has grown after the departure of Luis Diaz

Is this a final admission that we bought the wrong one ? Still it would save a few people a few bob on their shirt backs.

I know that 99% of all transfer speculation is total bu!!shit, but it worries the shit out of me that we are continually being linked with wingers when we have so many holes elsewhere

Exclusive. Gabriel Jesus agent Marcelo Pettinati tells me: “We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus, we like the project - it’s a possibility we’re discussing”. 🚨🇧🇷 #AFC

“There are 6 more clubs interested in Gabriel - he’s focused on final games with Man City, we’ll see”. https://t.co/kEHF2LqAdC

Arsenal are making ‘very serious efforts’ to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby & will push ahead with a move if they qualify for the Champions League. Should Diaby ‘force the transfer’, Leverkusen would be ‘willing to talk’ for €75m. [@SPORTBILD via @Sport_Witness] #afc https://t.co/vdhGFidbGK
It would be nice to see a 'Diaby' back amongst our ranks.

€75m wouldn't buy the class of the great Abou these days, but it might get us Moussa!
Last year and the year previous, he would cost 35M maximum. This year he has had an explosive season like Havertz and now commanding a 80M price tag. He's quality but it's a Pepe type signing and we will most likely fall for it because that sweet CL money will come in.

Kudos to certain scouting department whom find the likes of Luis Diaz[/u] and Julian Alvarez for a fraction of Havertz and Pepe cost. We would have never found them two because we are scouting players that have been scouted at least 4-5 years ago and were passed upon.

Hate to say it, but Diaz is going to be Fuckin' Awesome for the scousers, he cost an estimated £37.5m + £12.5m in potential add-ons and will turn out to be a bargain by todays costs/ standards. Pace isn't everything, but he is fastest prem player I've seen in quite a while and he has great skills and he can fucking Score; something we could do with

Same here, hate to say it but he is the real deal. He is rapid but the technique on the ball/off the ball movement, take-ons and etc. Best replacement for Mane for under 50M.

I think we admitted that after last season. Unfortunately, Nico isn't suited to us and I am afraid to say, nor is he suited to top 6 teams in the PL. He can do just fine for teams 10-15th like Zaha. I'd wager Zaha is a better fit to us than Nico.
