One of the best free-signing in this point of time . :barscarf: . Welcome back mad Jens.

We have three first team and one reserve keepers injured simultaneously, no one could have made provision for that.

Martinez is too raw for the bench so Lehmann returning is worth a go.
To be fair no one could predict these injuries. I would much rather have Lehmann as a last minute reserve then some 18 year old from a second rate team. Yes he is older but christ he is experianced and would he really put himself forward if he did not think he was capable?

At least he still seems to give a fuck and wants to have a go. I'd love to see half as much desire from Denilson, Rosicky, Bendtner etc
Maybe we should also sign (Oliver?) Khan his ole mucker from the german squad- just to give him a bit of competition - so he trains hard and does the business  :D

Hmmm, the total madness of Wenger is complete, it's his fault we're in this position and the chickens are coming home to roost..., we're becoming a laughing stock, out of contract players and cheap stop gaps, if it wasn't painful to see and experience it would be laughable.

Still cannot believe Wenger is going ahead with this. Yes we are in a bad position GK-wise but this smacks of desperation. Lehmann was pants towards the end of his time with us. Fuck knows what he's like now... can already see him charging out 30 yards and missing the ball... just like against the chavs in the CL quarters... When he got sent off in the CL final I wasn't even a fucking tad surprised... :(

It smacks of desperation because we are desperate. When you have 3 of your goalkeepers out injured i would say that counts as a desperate situation. And let's be honest here, what team is going to let their no.1 and no.2 goalkeepers leave to come play for us at this stage in the season?

I'm not happy with Lehmann coming back, but i can see why he has to and why Wenger is going ahead with it.

Wengers reign is turning into a fucking farce. :barscarf: And I think it's fucking hilarious.
Looking forward to the men in white coats coming and taking him away at the end of the season. The mad bastard.

I like this guy and think he should be shoved straight into the first team ahead Lemonia any day. He’s not easily fazed and could give some of our players a real kick up the backside during our run-in. Maybe it’s nostalgia and sentimentality coming over me, but I just love the idea of him coming back. His presence could do a world of good in the dressing room. Look at how Campbell was when he came back. He had all the passion and intensity that we long for in a player. In the short term it could really have an impact. And can you imagine Jens and Wojo kickin’ it after games together?

If it were up to me, I’d have him play the Stoke game. Even if he punched out Shawcross’ lights and got sent off, it would totally be worth it for me. In fact, throw him in against Blackburn and the Spuds too while you’re at it.

Yes we do need that type around the team but the 25-29 year old versions not the 41 or under 19 versions
i agree, flash, but he is coming to sit on the bench for 10 games. he'll probably only play if we are already champions or out of the title race.

but i think of what he can add to the squad, by teaching those gutless fuckers how to defend properly and behave like men in battle. mad jens knows about those things (and winning trophies).
That might be the intention BG but you're forgetting this scenario _

1) Almunia gets injured
2) Lehmann (a 41 year old that retired months ago) is our only fit keeper

Wenger knew this situation could develop but for transfer window after transfer window he has done nothing about it.

A club with aspirations to be at the very top should NEVER be in this situation!!
How many keepers did you want Wenger to have? we had Almunia, Fabianski, Sczezny and Mannone a few weeks back...he didnt know 3 of that lot would get injured...thats just bad luck!! If he had signed a different keeper, there would have been no guaruntee he stayed away from injury...we dont have too many options available other than signing Jens...we cant sign someone attached because of the transfer window...ive got no problems with him coming back as back up...the crazy bastard!!

He will either win us the league...or just strangle every fucker that gets near him from a corner!

Yeah, We can all see WHY he is doing it, mate. That's pretty obvious. The point is that Lehmann was poor 5 years ago. He is now older and slower. I have this awful feeling that this one will turn round and bite Wenger on the arse big time... :(

Its a fucking joke that he is back and shows what a joke our team is that a geriatric German who hasn’t played for years comes out of retirement.

Words fail me on how cheap and money saving we have become.

I dont think I can agree with the line of thought that this wouldnt have happened had wenger bought a keeper......as swale has pointed out already, we had chesney, flaps and below average al and considering the gaping holes elsewhere in the squad it would have made no sense to buy another keeper especially when so many fans wanted chesney as number 1 anyway

As I have stated already, I loved mad jens as our keeper and being an old geezer that longs for days gone by there is a big percentage of me that is happy to see the mad *word censored* return 8) On the other hand we have to agree that it does paint a pretty poor picture of where we now stand as a club  I feel there would probably be a chance of signing some 2nd choice keeper from a club that is neither gonna win anything or get relegated if we make the deal financially sweet enough for that club. I like the idea of a player with real passion like jens being back at the club especially when we have so many *word censored* that dont seem to give a flying fcuk about the club but lets be honest here we are only 1 injury away from needing to play him and considering that he aint played for almost a year that cant be good.

By the way I cannot agree that he was pants before he left us......his form had without question dipped after being very harshly axed by wenger for a 3rd rate spanish clown.....whose confidence wouldnt take a knock in those circumstances ?

The thing is, Al and arguably Flappy (prior to his short decent run of form) should have been long gone anyway. And what does it say about Shea, when he can't be considered good enough to sit on the bench for 10 games.
I was a massive fan of Jens, and think he was treated badly by Wenger, who was determined to stick with Al no matter how poorly he performed, hoping he would come good, meaning he wouldn't have to go out and buy a keeper.
Wenger probably believed that Jens putting pressure on him was the reason Al was a nervous wreck, this of course we now know is not the case, the guy is just shite end of. But as I said initially he inexplicably is still here.

Thing is it is "We" (Gooners) who will do all the suffering if we don't get a trophy of some descriptoin this season....and unless a feckin miracle occurs and all the injuries abate the ole trophy cabinet will be empty yet again...Oh! hold on there'd the E******s Cup! Ooooohhh! :x :banghead: :wailer:
