From some libellous and totally baseless tabloid article from about 1996 i think which was fully retracted.Clueless_In_Dorset wrote:i dont suppose we could get any of the press interested in this matter?

I reckon we could get some press interest - best bet would probably be the Mirror as with the Sun there would be similar issues as there were for the guy who messaged skytext. Someone just needs to call the news desk - if they can find out how many complaints Amazon have had there's definitely a story there. At the hint of a national paper sniffing around Amazon (and all other outlets stocking the chant) would crumble.

How many times have we heard this one.....
Every day I hear a list of players who want to come to Arsenal. But we have a great team spirit and I don't want to destroy that.
"I only want to buy players with the right spirit. A manager must create a team and we are a team. Our players are prepared to fight and want to go somewhere.
"I need ambitious players who are ready to fight for the collectivity of the team, not just come over here and take a salary

I am considering the compilation of my own album of distasteful football chants/songs.
This would include references to the following subjects:
The Manchester United Munich disaster in which many people died,
The Hillsborough disaster in which 89 Liverpool fans were killed,
The Ibrox disaster in which Glasgow Rangers fans were killed,
Tottenham Hotspur fans being referred to as "y**s" in regard to their Jewish fanbase,
The Chelsea player Ashley Cole being accused of homosexuality and a sex act which involves the insertion of a mobile phone in his anus,
The Notts County player Sol Campbell similarly accused,
Sectarian songs between fans of Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic,
Generally violent chants such as "you're gonna get your fuckin heads kicked in",
Would you kindly confirm that this content would fall within your "acceptability" criterion, and that you would have no objection to offering the product for sale on your website.
Thank you
I just sent this to Amazon

Maybe we could also make a few additions of our own by adopting this awful chant and changing the name to Sir Matt Busby - well they did call them the 'Busby Babes', and see how the mancsum like it...

still going through the motions with play.com,
they told me i cannot close my account without calling up to confirm this, so i called them (in Dehli) and they have not got a clue what im talking about...
the american sounding asian woman at the other end is going to look into the matter... i think.
Here's the initial response I got from play.com

Edit: my response to this
Err hello again Play.com
Query ticket number 4809595
Thank you for your response
I called your customer care line as requested in the email response you sent me and quoted the query ticket number to discuss the issue, but guess what ? they didnt even know what a 'query ticket number' was, how professional!
I ended up explaining the issue to an American robotic sounding person on the customer care line who didnt understand the implications of selling such a vulgar and sickening product, infact she didnt understand what the issue was at all.
My question is now:
if you respond to my email with a request to telephone a certain number and include the line (I quote) " We would very much like to discuss this further with you and rectify any problems you may have experienced." but yet no one understands what a query ticket number is let alone the serious nature of the query.
I ask you play.com, how am i supposed to get my point across that i am closing my account with you because you are selling a product that is in very bad sickening taste and quotes the word paedophilia in a slanderous state.
I feel the image of your company has been tarnished.
Now please, I instruct you to close my account and delete my details from your spam mailing lists for once and all.
Kindest Regards

Also discussed on the official (hi olgit
), as well as being included in the latest REDaction e-mail.
"Last Saturday, for what seemed like the millionth time, our manager was subjected to the disgraceful song that Man Utd fans like to sing. Yes, the same fans who get incredibly touchy and moralistic if anybody mentions Munich. Why does the media never mention this? Do journalists magically go deaf whenever this song starts (which was plenty of times during Saturday's game)? Or is there some media conspiracy to keep quiet about it? Anyway, seems like Amazon are selling a CD and mp3 of the song on their website, the full story is here - http://bit.ly/jpn8J . So, if you are feeling like complaining, there are plenty of addresses to do so at the link above."

I too e-mailed amazon about this - and got the following reply, even though I pointed out that the sale of said material equated with their condoning child Abuse and Paedophlia

Dear Customer
Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with your concerns about one of the titles we list in our catalogue.
Here at Amazon, we believe that people have the right to choose what they listen to. Our goal is to support freedom of expression and to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any product they might be seeking. That selection includes products which some people, including employees of Amazon, may find distasteful or otherwise objectionable.
However, Amazon believes it is censorship to make a product unavailable to our customers because we believe its message to be repugnant. Furthermore, because we strongly believe that the appropriate response to repugnant speech is not censorship, but more speech, we will continue to allow customers to express their views via our web site about the products we offer for sale. Stocking controversial content does not mean that Amazon.co.uk endorses the views held within.
We value all feedback from our customers, and I thank you again for taking the time to send us your comments about this issue.
We hope you will allow us to continue to serve you.
Please let us know if this e-mail answered your question:

I find your reply nothing more than an excuse to allow disgusting material that amounts to a celebration and endorsment of child abuse and paedophilia, which is specifically aimed at one individual.
I fully intend to notify the media (BBC, iTV and all press publications) of your preference for Profit over Decency, whilst using the excuse of 'freedom of expression' as your means by which to continue to profit from such disgusting and obscene material.
I herewith close my account with yourselves.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
F*ck the Scumbags....
I would sincerely urge all of you who have or still order stuff from amazon (and any of the other culprits) to:
Write to them in complaint, and should they reply with the above mass produced profit laden reply, to close your account with the Feckers!
This evil and disgusting behaviour and chant has gone on long enough, time we put our heads above the parapet and use 'People Power' to bring it to an end.
So if we all send a letter of complaint to all the newspapers, BBC, Channel 4, ITV , the FA, Uefa, Fifa and any others you can think of stating your total opposition regarding this matter, and basically get everyone you know to do the same...and eventually something will have to be done.
