Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Getting Xhaka and Holding out the door must be the top priority..as long as the Basel bulge remains we will achieve fuckall

We are looking to replace Partey. A right back and a winger.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Surely we’ve got to be looking for a centre forward as well? Or will Balogun be like a new signing from the internal transfer market?
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
That deserves a super quality response mate.
We work tirelessly day and night....we have scouts all over the world....finding top top super quality isn't easy. I'm sorry he did not cost 30m.
Lol, we might as well bring back all the Wengerisms seeing as his current protégé has picked up where he left off

Right Back. Winger. DM.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
If we don't sign at least one CB we are fucked. Preferably one that isn't as weak as piss either

Fair point, augie. I can’t imagine it’s going to improve and, as you said, the track record of defensive signings doesn’t exactly stand out. I’d like to hope (I know, I know!) that he’s learned from the mistakes he’s made and can really develop on this season, to improve next season.augie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 2:44 pmArsenal Till I Die wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 1:58 pmWe need to make this summer window count if we want to improve on this season. As some have said already, this summer will determine if we replicate Liverpool of recent years, or ourselves in 2016.
We need a new CB. Ideally a starting CB to replace Gabriel. Push Gabriel to the bench (if not sell him) and have him compete with the Polish lad. That Korean fella from Napoli looks the bollocks, rated at £40m (Kim Min-jae).
We know that Xhaka isn’t going anywhere so there’s no point dreaming, but it’s clear Partey isn’t up to it. We need a new CM, defensive minded (and not brain dead, like Xhaka).
A winger to cover Saka, so the boy doesn’t have to play every game. And we need to have two CFs. Ballogun and Jesus.
We need a huge fucking clear out too.
This is a list of defenders signed by the basque one since he became manager -
ben white
gabriel
tomiyasu
jakub kiwior
cedric soares
pablo mari
zinchenko
nuno tavares
auston trusty (that was a new one on me)
How confident would you be with this regime signing proper defenders ?
This summer is crucial for our future trajectory for the next decade. We could build properly and start competing regularly, or we could make the mistake of 2016 and fall by the wayside again.

I thought Gabriel was pre Arteta?, seem to remember he was before Saliba.
Not a great hit rate there, White is good but then at 50m he should be!.
Was thinking this morning, Kiwior seems like a bad choice in January, being a lefty really hamstrung us into having to play Holding once big willy got injured.
Last January we signed no one, this time we did half a job, if you count the chav reject as good cover for Partey.
Feels like yet again a poor January window has fvcked us, had we got a better profile right footed CB we might have got over the line.
If the Qatari's get the other Mancs and surely the dippers and Chavs can't be as bad next time, not to mention the Geordie Saudi investment sports washing Company, could be another 20, 50 years before we win the title.
Sorry it's back to Kroenke out if we're scrapping for 4th again next season!

Personally I think that the bashing of Kiwior by the fans (not specifically you) is extremely harsh - he signed for us just 3 months ago and has played just twice for first time, so are we saying that it is reasonable to expect the guy to hit the ground running straight away ? I dunno what his english is like, but I do know that moving to a new country it takes time to settle in, and then you add in the fact that he isnt getting game time either, so how the fcuk can he be expected to be match sharp now ? We are in danger of writing him off without getting a chance
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
It's less about writing him off and more about wondering how he can't get a game ahead of Holding despite our defence turning to jelly and conceding for fun every gameaugie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 7:55 amsk-gtfo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:54 amI thought Gabriel was pre Arteta?, seem to remember he was before Saliba.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
The reality of our situation is that we have been unlucky. To lose Saliba was unlucky. For him to be the right sided centre back was even worse luck as we were then playing Holding rather than Kiwior due to the side that they naturally play. Tomayisu is crap but to lose him in the same game as Saliba was even more unlucky. I do think though that what we should have been doing is adapting tactically. Three at the back and wing backs. That way there was no need to play Holding. I would have gone with Tierney, Gabriel, White as the back three. With Xhaka as a left wing back/inverted and Zinchenko as an effective right wing back/inverted. By sticking with Holding and with Partey making some of the mistakes he has made we have just drained away confidence wise. It has clearly spread through the team and we’ve imploded. If we had not had Xhaka blow up at Anfield, Partey with his brain fart at West Ham and Saka’s pen miss we would be sat here with about 4-6 points more and would still actually be in the title race regardless of the City game. It’s a massive bottle. I don’t care about what we thought we were aiming for at the start of the season. Any side drawing at home to Southampton who are so shit it is not real are choking. It is an absolutely ridiculous result. Total shit the bed FC.

Thing is Kiwior is a (very) Left Footed player, he came from a league inferior to the Prem and his English; at least when he arrived was very little, though has now improved with 3 - 4 English lessons a week besides the usual things he will learn to use on the pitch in a game, I mean besides "what the fuck are you pointing over there for xhaka! "
So they had very little choice but (regrettably) to use Holding.
We "Need" a Right Winger. a CB (right footed) a Left Full-Back (Zinchenko is not the answer - though he could be a better option than Clive) And we need a Proper Striker.. AND get rid of the remaining dross including Holding (nice lad just not good enough)
And if the rumours are true that Emery / Villa want to sign ESR that would be a Huge mistake on our part - Give them Vieira the cocktail stick instead - for Free if necessary.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Unlucky?, I'm not so sure, Tomi has been injury prone since we signed him, you could argue that particular injury was bad luck but still, we know he's unreliable.
I'm not having a go a Kiwior, he may turn out decent, he may be a dud, just that by signing a left footed CB, with little top level experience, we have not given ourselves the best chance to win this title.
I doubt we'll get another chance any time soon, I hope I'm wrong but if we effectively have 3 Man City's when/if United get middle Eastern money, after Newcastle already have then we have little chance of competing with our owners.
I just can't be fvcked with more top 4 trophy crap, fans that can stomach that for the next 20 years are better fans than me.
