If we believe Brighton wanted 80m and West Ham 120m, it will take some doing. Then need a RB, CB and striker as a minimum
My bet is that we will sign a couple of players after a long Summer transfer saga. Neither of which will be our first choice. One is called Deja Vu.

Ah yes, good old Deja Vu. I remember him well...Wenger signed him every summer. Super top top quality. He'll take us to the next level, which is....err, the next level.
Deja Vu.....Zlatan......Drogba......Hazard......Yaya Toure - the virtual, nearly signed XI are looking more and more like Galacticos every year

Btw SteveO, I was a little disappointed in you following the Brighton debacle. You keep promising the full Wenger bingo card, but we haven’t had the definitive list yet.

So, it’s clear that against Brighton we played with “a little bit the handbrake on”, but was the result “an accident” or “special circumstances”?
I'm still trying to locate it mate - I'm as sad as you are because it had a right collection of little gems in there.

I think Brighton would definitely be in the "special circumstances" category (the fact they've beaten us 4 times out of 5 at the Emirates would have been lost on the old bugger!). I think we also had an "illusionary domination" for parts of the game and it had nothing to do with lack of leadership as "leadership is overplayed this country". Thankfully though we have the "internal transfer window" to look forward to where we will have super, top top quality to come and rescue us! "I'm sorry he did not cost £30m"

🚨 It's true: Granit Xhaka expected to leave Arsenal this summer after seven years at the club.

🇨🇭 Swiss captain seeking new challenge. Already informed Mikel Arteta about his decision, but fully focused on final games.

Arsenal Alters Transfer Plans Post Josh Kroenke's Talks with Mikel Arteta

🗣️ Following an impressive Premier League campaign, Arsenal plans to restructure their wage system and back Arteta in the transfer market. A significant move for Declan Rice is likely.

🗣️ The Gunners will "loosen" their wage structure, aiming to attract players who can make them regular title contenders. Champions League qualification has boosted the budget.

🗣️ Arteta gets a boost with the change in the wage budget, particularly after the team's recent title hopes were dashed. Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke's support for Arteta remains strong

You look back and it's incredible how fucking nuts those comments were. At the time they'd make you angry, but I'd come on here and laugh at the parodying of them and the gallows humour. When I look back now, I can't help but laugh. A 6-0 drubbing was an "accident" . You can say that again Arsene, although it was actually a disaster mate. The most amazing thing was how he got away with with it for so long with the majority of our supporters. Years ago I used to rate Arsenal supporters as grounded, knowledgeable and fair about football, but during the Wenger years I came to lose all respect for them. They got exactly what they deserved...fuck all.

Anyway, you have a keen memory for Wenger bingo, do keep it up. For what it's worth, I'm also sorry that Holding didn't cost 30 million....very fucking sorry. Mind you, conversely, I'm very sorry that Xhaka cost 32 million! :worried:

Still, onwards to the next level with Mikel's "process"....I'm trusting it. :barscarf:

If that happens to be true, it's fucking galling. He tells the club that it's his decision to leave?? If I'd been the manager I'd have made that decision for him....5 fucking years ago!! :cussing:

Obviously we need new players, at the back and a proper forward and DM but I hope we stick with ESR, he's one of my favourite players and when on form is a game changer, hope we don't sell him.

Agreed - and allegedly being trained for Xhaka's role, so we live in hope !

TRANSFER NEWS: Albert Sambi-Lokonga is wanted by Burnley.
Manager Vincent Kompany is eyeing reunion with midfielder, Belgian estimated at around £15-£20m. #AFC may be willing to moving Sambi on a permanent or loan move.

Be quite something if Lokonga and Partey were moved on. 60m he invested in those two

Lakonga played every game at palace when Vieira was there. Palace were shite, lost every game, couldn’t even muster a shot on goal and looked in real danger of going down.

He hasn’t kicked a ball since Woy came in, Palace are flying, scoring for fun and comfortably safe from relegation.

Make of that what you will

Yep, of the three young talents (ESR, Martinelli and Saka), this guy probably excited me the most, although I was a huge fan of Martinelli when he burst on the scene under Emery.

ESR was fabulous in the first third of last season, but couldn't get in the reckoning after the lengthy injury. I can never shake the feeling that Arteta isn't a fan and was always looking for a reason to leave him out of the side. I can't prove that, but I read on here speculation that he is overweight or unfit and eats the wrong stuff etc etc, but that seems to be pure speculation too.

I've been saying for ages that he needs to find out if he really does have a future here and if not, then ask for a move. He needs to play, pr his career will be ruined, in the same way that Wenger ruined careers.
