Merson started to get injuries, so Wenger advised him it might be in his interest to leave.JakeN13 wrote:One of my first Arsenal heros, great player and a great man for getting through all his problems.
Agree it's criminal he didn't get his hundred goal. Anyone remember the season review video from 96/97 when he said he wasn't too bothered about not getting one more goal that season as he would be there for at least one (or was it a couple) more seasons? I'd like to know exactly what Wenger told him when he told him he had to leave, or if it was his own choice in the end.
Middlesborough came in with a bid, and Merse's wages were to be a lot higher than they were at Arsenal.
Merse was sad to leave, but happy to get the higher wages.
He said this in interview with Bob Wilson on Arsenal TV.
to be fair to him, it sounded like he wasnt far off wrong about spartak, i think they really have the ability to go the whole 38 without defeat which will be a sad day for english football. i also think his negativity is just a frustration that we feel all the time, it would be great if he could turn into our own nostrils thompson and just go on and on and on and on about how good we can be and all the irrational shite that scouse prick comes out with, but he knows, like the rest of us, that we have our failings as a team and i think he voices them admirablyJustin-the-Gooner wrote:The same guy who called chavski champions yesterday and is always... always negative about Arsenal these days
