Take it a step further and ask yourself who was our attacking options to come on with the exception of vela ?
I can't criticise Wenger for that.
Injuries to Eduardo, Adebayor, Fabregas, Walcott, Diaby and Rosicky (I know ) have robbed us of attacking options.
I understand that g88ner and I know that the kid is young but why wasnt wilshire on the bench today ? Why is it that when we need a goal we bring in a full back(eboue) to play on the wing when really wilshire or even merida should be called upon ? I aint blaming eboue for today cos he wasnt on long enough anyway but in all of last season he scored zero goals and had 1 assist so surely to god having a natural winger playing there, especially when you need a goal badly, makes more sense ? For that matter why not bring in ramsey who again is more attack minded that song, denilson and eboue ?
Wenger has said he will ration Ramsey and Wilshere's appearances at a young age, because he does not want either to end up like Fowler and Owen who played too much too soon, resulting in tiny bone fissures that hampered their career from mid twenties onwards.

Wenger's job is to look after the needs of Arsenal first and foremost and if he can look after his players long term welfare after that then great but if he cant then so be it. The team needs all the quality players it can get right now and he should be using them accordingly.....if he wants to ration them then he should do it at a time when we have most of our injured players back

To be honest, I'm disappointed we haven't seen more of Wilshere, because pre-season was a real eye opener, and I'm sure he'd do a decent job NOW! (certainly a better attacking option than Eboue )
Quartz' point is valid though... after all, he's 16, so I won't be too critical on Wenger as I'm sure he has Wilshere's best interests at heart.
Ramsey is similar, but he hasn't been great anyway... against Cardiff he couldn't string 2 passes together, so I'm not sure he's ready yet.. even compared to Song and Denilson!
I can't say I disagreed with the substitutions... I just thought we were poor, and although it's ultimately Wenger's responsibility, I thought the players let themselves down today - they were awful!

Lethal has a fair point about Cesc, who has played tons of games for one so young, and has not been guarded by Wenger as one might expect.
And now is injured, and spoke out about playing too many games as contributing to the injury, and about not getting enough of a break between Euro 2008 and the club season.
His early season form was poor, he simply looked exhausted.
