Also noticed later in the text, but not listed to the forum, that in the 15th century St. George's day was celebrated as much as Christmas!

George was granted a sainthood around the 6th Century. When all the Bishops in Europe attended a 'conference' they were instructed to return to their countries and celebrate St George. I think around 70 countries around the world celebrate St George somehow.

As legend has it (legends are no more then fokelaw rumours one of which I'm creating) that our very own Saint George choose the red and white cross through his love of Arsenal! It then later became our National Flag.
