As much as I hate the FA and the England team- and I'm English- there was never any shouting about Maradona's game being replayed in 1986. Both Paddies, the Welsh and Scots would have been laughing their heads off if this happened to England again so for fuck's sake shut up and accept these things. This is football, it's a pain in the arse but that's how it is.

Radford simply says this is PATHETICFrenchGun wrote:It seems all the Oirish players want to replay the game against France. They called upon the FIFA for that.
Well... In fact, after reading comments from the Oirish players, Trappatoni, and the oirish gooners on here... I agree!
I also think we should replay this game. In truth, it wasn't really fair, and as many of you I don't support this kind of stuff. SO lets do it again!
Unfortunalty, it will not happen, and you Oirish will remain out of the world cup...
Now lets put things straight. You have every right to be angry, and to ask for a rematch, and I for one, would sign straight away for it, regardless of the final score. If after rematch, we end up disqualified, then fair enough, I don't see anything special in this French squad anyway. They sadden me...
BUT! And it's a BIG BUT!!!
If you want to blame someone, then blame the C*nt Platini! STOP BLAMING HENRY!! This game is just another example of how the refs are becoming a liability. Games are being robbed every week in EVERY League! It just happens ALL THE TIME! So as long as the Dinosaur Platini won't change his mind on the video, these things will still happen. Sometimes it will go your way, sometimes the other.
In the end, I'm just asking you to switch your anger from one frog to another.

from Radford, the simple reason that they do not play extra time after a drawn cup game.donaldo wrote:Totally agree. There should never be extra time in a two-legged affair. The home team in the 2nd leg has an unfair advantage.mrgnu1958 wrote:ive NEVER understood why the 1st game of a 2 legged match DOESNT have
extra time.![]()

As far as im concerned yesterdays game should"ve gone straight to penaltys.
as for the home side having the advantage, not exactly so as remember the away goal counts double
it's the way it's set up. deal with and for Radfords sake move on.

We had an advantage in the replayed game with Sheff Utd in that if Kanu hadn't scored in the first game and it had stayed at 1-1 we would have had to go to Bramall Lane. As it was we got another chance to beat them at home, which we did.
I think it was unfair on Ireland that as the lower ranked side they had to play extra time in France. Either play two games of 90 minutes then go to penalties, or if Fifa wish to continue with extra time after the second game then play the first game in the country of the higher ranked team. Then if it's still level after two games it means the lower ranked country have held off bigger opposition over two games so let them have the advantage of extra time at home.
And I'm not too sure about this "away goals count double" idea. It's a commonly used phrase but to me it's just a case of looking at who scored the most away goals in a two-legged match. If the aggregate scores are level but team A scored 1 away goal and team B scored 2 then team B win.

Sorry but I'm not having any of this Sheffield United bollocks.
That was a totally different situation.
We offered to replay it, the FA didn't object. Totally different to them intervening and forcing us to replay it.

I think many French football fans have been quite humble about this situation and hats off to them. At the end of the day a replay over this incident will set a precident that will ultimately open up a can of worms. Let sleeping dogs lie i say. Its happened to us (diego) and it will happen again, its part of the game sadly. Thierry knows he did wrong and he has to live with that and i hope that FIFa and UEFA can too.
