why i was hoping fab would be sent off

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

it was a game against wigan that was coming up, so in the previous game he grabbed onto the players shirt delibrately and got booked, thus missing the wigan game.

BELOW IS EXTRACT FROM UEFA RULES.

MAYBE I AM WRONG BUT SHOW ME WHERE IT STATES 2 YELLOW CARDS WAIVED AT END OF GROUP STAGE.

Yellow and red cards
22.01 As a rule, a player who is sent off the field of play is suspended for the next
match in a UEFA club competition. The Control and Disciplinary Body is
entitled to augment this punishment. For serious offences the punishment
can be extended to all UEFA competition categories.
22.02 In case of repeated cautions:
a) before the group stage, a player is suspended for the next competition
match after two cautions in two different matches, as well as after the
fourth and sixth caution;
b) from the first match in the group stage, a player is suspended for the next
competition match after three cautions in three different matches, as well
as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth,
etc.).
22.03 Single yellow cards and pending suspensions are always carried forward
either to the next stage of the competition or to another club competition in
the current season

SO SHOW ME WHY YOU THINK I AM WRONG. IF I AM THEN I PUT MY HANDS UP TO BEING CRETIN FOR WANTING FAB SENT OFF. IF I AM RIGHT, WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT YOU THREE BUT DONT WORRY I WILL SAY IT FOR YOU IF BUT ONLY IF I AM RIGHT AND YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO COMMENT WITHOUT CHECKING THE FACTS

Sadly roly.. you missed off the last two rules.

21.04 Exceptionally, single cautions from the qualifying phase that have not
resulted in a suspension expire on completion of the qualifying phase in
question.
21.05 Cautions and pending yellow-card suspensions from club competition
matches expire at the end of the season.

21.04 is the one!

ignore augie spud and db10 they are idiots incapable of rational thought which iswhy they spend so much of their sad lives on this web site. they are also very very bitter about the chelski conspiracy and the 55 grand.

very good checking other rules but does seem to suggest more likely than not the two bookings would carry over. so while we agree to disagree i do accept unllike the three goons you have put a valid and reasoned argument and not talking out of your arse like them.

i still believe later this season it will be regrettted that fab did not takethe third card but hopefully not. adios.

Nobody asked you to come on here so if you think it is so sad then why dont you go and do one ? I think that a *word censored* that comes on here bullshitting about huge betting windfalls and conspiracy theories is a closer definition to sad actually

Roly,
Thanks for the advice but I'm more then capable of choosing whom to ignore myself, but thanks.

What advantage would be gained by Cesc by getting a longer ban. :?:
It's quite simple to me
Cesc had one booking. We know this as it's a fact.
At the time, we were still to qualify and Cesc was one booking away from a ban
So the situation was firstly to qualify, That was paramount. It was possible he could have been needed for the last (6th) game.

At 2-0 up Cesc knew in the later stages that we'd qualified. All we needed was a draw and in 10 minutes it was 'fairly' unlikely that we'd lose.
So Cesc decided to take a yellow to ban him from the next game.

If he didn't that 'could' have meant AW 'may' have played him.
By taking the ban now means AW has to play someone else.

Had Cesc not have been booked and AW picked him to play the next game (6th). You know AW would stupidly pick him! If he accidently picked up a booking in that game. He would have been banned for the first knock out game.

Remember all yellows get wiped after the group stages, except for bans which are due. They'll be nothing over his head from the group stages.

There is nothing gained by him for getting sent off.

no ban after two yellows ban is after three yellows

so in the spat near end he got his 2nd yellow. therefore 5 min left to pick up 3rd except reading rules again it does say three bookings in three different games.

so i think you are wrong if think fab already banned. i think3rd yellow may have wiped slate clean.

still unclear why you are so sure anyone with one or two yellows gets amnesty . would make sense but common sense and uefa are hardly best buddies

Okay if it's 3 yellow's then it wasn't delibrate.
Therfore, as we're qualified just don't play him! Simples!
