why i was hoping fab would be sent off
why i was hoping fab would be sent off
correct me if i am wrong but having been booked, which was his second booking of the competition, had fab deliberately got himself a second yellow card for a minor offence eg handball and sent off, he would have got suspension out of way both for sending off and third booking against olympiakos , a game he is unlikely to play in anyway and have clean slate for knock out stage.
right orwrong? genius or stupid? aint had time to look up the rules.

A sending off would have been more then a one match ban and would have included the knockout stages.
I believe that all 'outstanding' yellows would be wiped after the group stages finish.
I'm not sure how that works with another yellow being picked up in the last game. (not a sending off). I'm sure you'd still have to serve a ban.
I.e if Cesc picked up another booking against Olympiakos I'm sure he'd still have to serve a one match ban which would be in the knock out stages. Where as all single yellows would have the slate wiped clean.

Stupid!!! Yellow cards are wiped out at the end of the group stagerolypoly wrote:correct me if i am wrong but having been booked, which was his second booking of the competition, had fab deliberately got himself a second yellow card for a minor offence eg handball and sent off, he would have got suspension out of way both for sending off and third booking against olympiakos , a game he is unlikely to play in anyway and have clean slate for knock out stage.

2 x yellow = 1 match ban. 3 match is for straight red

Sadly, I'm not sure.rolypoly wrote:boomer
thanks for that but are you sure more than one match ban for two yellows in one game. i thought it was one match ban for starters only increased if eg violent conduct reason for sending off

I think it was a sensible (slightly Genius) way of missing the next game. You'd never quite know what the ref would actually send you off for. He only needed a yellow to get banned.
Besides, I'd doubt as a professional player he'd not want a dismissal on his records.

Was I right that dispite the yellows being wiped for the group stages that if you picked up a second yellow (not sending off) you'd still have to serve the ban in the 1st game of the knock out?SPUDMASHER wrote:Stupid!!! Personally this is not something I condone.
It's cheating.
And wouldn't the media have a bloody field day with it, another bloody stick to beat the team with.
I recall playing at power league one night when a foward got past me with fine turn and finished past the keeper. I had our goalie shouting at me that I should have tripped him up from behind and taken a sin bin. I told him to fuck right off and that I wasn't a cheat.
Can't have it I'm afraid.

Hopfully, you were sent to the sin bin telling your Keeper to 'fuck off'!?Number 5 wrote:Personally this is not something I condone.
