It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

It must be difficult to learn about British history.

Australian history doesn't go back too far so i had an easy time of it in school.

I'm from the Lake District, and my parents still live there. Definately worth a look if you have time. If you need any advice about where to visit and things to do, then let me know, mate.

thanks g88ner, i surely will mate. my ex-gf lives in london and went there last year and took some amazing pictures. she told me it's a must go, one of the best looking places in england, so i really want to go check it out.

the only issue is that she went by car, and told me it's by far the best way to meet the places. however, i was planning to do my whole trip only by bus and train, so i may not be able to reach some nice spots... what would you say, can i enjoy there without a car? :?:

There are frequent buses throughout the Lakes, so although it's always better to have the total freedom of a car, it's certainly possible to see the Lake District by public transport.

The main towns and villages are all on bus routes, and there are more than enough mountains to climb and lakes to visit that are easily accessible from youth hostels and bus stops, so fear not.
