WHY STAND UP FOR THE SCUM?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So the fans who can't normally get/afford tickets so took advantage of this match are not real fans, but the season ticket/silver/red members who can go to big games but don't bother with the carling cup until it looks like we will win it are? I was disgusted by how many new faces I saw on Tuesday, but not at the new faces, at the season ticket holders who didn't bother going.

What's irritating about people going for the first time? Everyone has to go to a first game at some point.

I'm not a season ticket holder but i have been to all but 1 home games this season, my aunt is a season ticket holder but didnt go however she did have a good reason, i supose going to a best mates wedding is alright but would she have gone if it was a cup final?

I knew a few season ticket holders who didn't go and what was funny was when i told them £15 for me and my Grandad they said if they knew the tickets was that price they would of gone.

I also don't get why people say im not paying to go watch kids play, i have been to every league cup home in the last three seasons game plus the Carling cup final and alot of the football has been as good as the 1st team, certainly last years performances anyway.

I think the Carling cup is a great cup and all those people/tabliod writers who said Arsenal disrespected the cup a few years back because we fielded a young side and went out early on is the competition, well there not saying it now Arsenal are the team everyone wants to watch.

No they're not are they. Wenger has turned this shitty no respect tournament, into a true 'B' team competition....

Except when top teams play us, they seem to play full strength sides.

Funny that.

I dont really look at singing "stand up if you hate Tottenham" as paying them any sort of compliments or anything, as others have suggested..
You cant say they're not important- They're our local rivals and I for one dont get sick of displaying my hatred for them..I'd rather sing "stand up for the Arsenal", but if it goes a bit quiet, or atmosphere's jaded, theres nothing better to raise the noise and passions like a quick chorus about our neighbours..

But that "QUICK CHORUS" about our neighbours seems to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on......

Get my meaning??

What happened to the lyrical genius of...........

"When I was a young boy, I asked my mummy........."

?

Now that is worth singing!

Pretty harsh on the fans who were able to get to a game last night, rolypoly. These days, not everyone finds it easy, or affordable, to get to games, and I thought was good to have so many there who wouldn't usually be there. It added to the atmosphere too.

I agree about Spurs though.
I agree with everything rolypoly just said! the singing if you hate spurs! people should look at me see a Red and White shirt know I hate Tottenham I dont need to stand! this is all started because someone in the red action section gets told to sit down by a steward so he decides I'm going to sing STAND UP IF YOU HATE TOTTENHAM. as the steward cant possibly make 50,000 sit down I never stand for this crap!

also going on the day trippers you knew a mile of if they had been to the game or havent they came in many catorgries

IE the ones singing before they get in to the ground with scarf wrap around there heads like some wannabe Rambo
Then my personal favorites the ones who think they have a cracking song and sing it a full pelt only to realise most people think its crap.
then you got the ones I hate and damn there where a lot of them the ones who got into the groun 20 minutes late!!!! 7.45 kick off muppets!!

20 minutes, that's nothing. I rocked up at half-time. But then I did have to come from Paris, and I wasted £30 on a taxi driven by someone more familiar with Timbuktu than north London in an attempt to see some of the 1st half. Now who sounds like Victor Meldrew?
