WHY STAND UP FOR THE SCUM?
WHY STAND UP FOR THE SCUM?
Enjoyable as last night was despite the irritation of the presence of so many "fans" who seemed never to have been to a match before, the greatest irritation is Red Action`s obession with the scum.
Personally, Iwould not stand up for the Queen, so I am buggered if I am going to get off my fat arse and show respect for the scum by standing up every time Red Action want to sing about them.
Don`t the morons who start of that stupid song realise scum fans are flattered because singing about them signifies Gooners still consider scum a big club worth singing about.
Have you not met fans of other clubs who are bemused by Gooners apparent obsession with a crappy little obnoxious unsuccessful club that football wise has not been a serious rival of ours for best part of 20 years.
I appreciate Red Action do a lot of good, and definitely the atmosphere at the Grove is so much better now thanks largely to their efforts, but please stop standing up for the scum - just ignore them; dont flatter them as you are presently doing.

Yeah ,I agree.
As an Ex-Pat I only get to see the matches on TV, and I Have to admit that hearing that song 30 odd times every game gets a bit tiresome.
It might be a bit of a laugh if you're at the game having a good old sing song, but to tell you the truth lads, the way it comes over on the telly sounds, well......crap actually.
I actually like the 'ARE YOU WATCHING TOTTENHAM' song, but only when we're winning the Title/FA cup or beating Real Madrid in the CL or whatever
The Scum are irrelevant to us these days. Don't give em so much publicity.
Remember the world is watching the game and listening to your songs !

I used to be indifferent to the spuds fans, but I must say that running into the scum at other online forums recently just brought home to me how hateful they really are ... they are an aggressive loud bunch eager to use abusive language, even when there is absolutely no conflict in the topic being discussed.
So, now I hate the scum with a passion, and can also see the historical reasons why gooners hate them. They are plain obnoxious.
Having said that, its clear that on the whole, spuds attract vile unpleasant types as fans .. and they are definitely not in the same class as arsenal or arsenal fans. Which is why its a travesty that our fans are singing about them when we are playing other teams. These guys are wasters .. lets forget them.

tbh its better than silence, dnt see the whole point of complaining about singing it tho despite it gving the spuds a 15 seconds of fame. Our rivalry with them saw a renaissance in the last two seasons. Maybe its because i got in around halftime (damn tube) but i only heard the song once yesterday there was alot of wity ditys about newcastle my favourites being.
"Does your social know your here"x2 and numerous "we pay your benefits". and the ones about diarra had me laughing aswell

I agree, granted we all hate tottenham but why are we telling newcastle about it, they dont care. we should have some songs about alardyce or something or just some of the good old "greatest team" and stand up for the arsenal. or chant the players names once in a while. expecialy with so many of them being confidence players just sing their name for a bit and im sure it will give them a boost.

WELL, ALTHOUGH I AGREE THAT WE SING IT MUCH TOO OFTEN (AND I PERSONALLY DON'T STAND UP AFTER THE 2ND OR 3RD TIME), I DID HEAR THE NEWCASTLE FANS SINGING "WE HATE SUNDERLAND", SO IT'S NOT JUST US THAT SINGS ABOUT IT'S RIVALS/NEIGHBOURS.
BY THE WAY, AS AN ALTERNATIVE WE COULD ALSO SING THE FOLLOWING TO THE THIERRY HENRY MELODY:
"WE HATE TOTTENHAM,
WE HATE TOTTENHAM
WE HATE TOTTENHAM
WE HATE TOTTENHAM"

Singing about your rivals is traditional but I have to agree that it's embarrassing singing about them when we are not playing them.
I'd rather ignore they exist (apart from the laugh they have been giving me this year when I see their results) as singing about them just gives them some credibility to their 'big club' fantasies.
Would rather sing something amusing about the opposition than let their name spoil my 90 minutes enjoyment.
However any tpoical song about them would be different but would think pro-Jol (can't stand him but on current form is doing a great job and should stay forever unless Christian Dross is ready to return!) songs would be hard to get started.

obsessed with spurs
thank god other people that think it's just daft we're obsessed with spurs - they're there to be pitied not hated - i feel sorry for 'em - they are rubbish, they know they're rubbish, they'll always be rubbish - it's entertaining to see how rubbish they are, but i save my total and utter complete hatred for those cheating, sneaky, RADA graduates up in manchester - i'm indifferent to spurs in comparison. planning a trip to coventry to shake a few hands.
Re: WHY STAND UP FOR THE SCUM?
Pretty harsh on the fans who were able to get to a game last night, rolypoly. These days, not everyone finds it easy, or affordable, to get to games, and I thought was good to have so many there who wouldn't usually be there. It added to the atmosphere too.rolypoly wrote:Enjoyable as last night was despite the irritation of the presence of so many "fans" who seemed never to have been to a match before,
I agree about Spurs though.
