This was the first North London Derby after pervy Pleat got done for kerb crawling and we took the piss non-stop. We won the game 2-1 after conceding a goal after 60 seconds then Rocky (4mins) and Mickey Thomas (14 mins) scored.

Is it just me not remembering this correctly, or did The Big Match or MotD sometimes not show a half of football if nothing really happened, and said as such. I half remember them just going on to the second half a few times. Those were the days when they could tell is like it wasstg wrote:Brighton 1982/83 season we lost 1-0.
Woods in goal, I think the back 4 were Hollins, O'leary, Whyte and I think Devine but it may of been Sansom? midfield of Talbot, Rix, Robson and Davis and the strikers Chapman and Woodcock.
I think we had Hawley on the bench!!!!!!!!!!
Ahh those were the days none of this title challenging stuff and can we finish in the top 4 it was more can we fininsh in the top 10. nobody really carred who was on the board it was just a game of footie, not knowing what Arsenal would turn up from half to half and watching the highlights on MotD and The big match
Well said mate no one knew or cared how much the club was in debt or who was on the board. It was all about the match each weekstg wrote:Ahh those were the days none of this title challenging stuff and can we finish in the top 4 it was more can we fininsh in the top 10. nobody really carred who was on the board it was just a game of footie, not knowing what Arsenal would turn up from half to half and watching the highlights on MotD and The big match
I remember especially at home game always looking up at where the cameras would be(on the west stand) to see if we would be on MotD or The Big Match it was one of the first things I would do when I got into the groundmarcengels wrote:Is it just me not remembering this correctly, or did The Big Match or MotD sometimes not show a half of football if nothing really happened, and said as such. But, you also had to rely on being one of the few games whre they had cameras
I was in the away end that day and it was rammed, what a good day thoughhugh jardon wrote:27th August 1988 first game of the 88/89 season away at Wimbledon, Plough Lane.
5-1 win Smudger hat-trick, Marwood and Merse.
Decided to stand in the home end as the away end looked too rammed!
Tremendous season.
Spot on. I didn't have a ticket but a few of us went just for the atmosphere. As you said, gooners were everywhere. All the French driving past the bar we were drinking outside were beeping and cheering.DB10GOONER wrote: Best away day was Paris 06. Even though we lost it was just an awesome trip. Drinking for 28 hours more or less solidly. The atmosphere when I got out of the station at Gare du Nord that afternoon made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Just Gooners EVERYWHERE, drinking... singing... The craic in the Cockney Tavern in Pigalle that night was immense too.
I went to that too (see all you super fans i used to go away a lot in those daysDB10GOONER wrote:My first "real" away game was Anfield in 90/91 season. Was living in London and met up in Liverpool with a couple mates from back home that are Pool fans. We couldn't agree where to drink (with mousers or Gooners) and ended up in some shitty little working man's club as signed in guests of some drunk as fuck old guy! Great laugh though.
