I fucking hate boy racers. Dublin is bollock full of them. :banghead:

A cousin of mine was killed back in the 80's by this little toerag in a souped up Fiat 127. A fucking 127! The fuckwad had a huge engine mounted in the bastard and hit my cousin's car side on at a junction at about 90mph. The brackets in cunto's car sheared and the engine block went straight through the side door killing my cousin instantly.

Toerag broke his legs I think and only got suspended for (I think) 2 years and fined. No jail, not even community service or probation.

I never really knew my cousin well as I'd only moved to Oireland from Australia but I don't think my aunt and uncle ever got over losing him. It's terrible to see how such a loss can ruin decent people's lives like that. And all because some 18 year old bollocks thought he was a fucking racing driver.

Young lads drivng in this country are a joke. Half the problem is they get cras as cos the guards dont give a shit about provisionals driving on their own teach themselves how to drive and wing it on their test whilst they never actually learn how to be a driver they only know how to go fprwars and not take account of their surroundings.

Im only 20 so in cant be saying much but i learned how to drive properly and my automatic 98 fiesta gets me around just fine

Cheapest was.................................£6600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought there must have been a mistake but nope, it didn't think he was gonna be driving a 911 or Aston Martin.
How the hell can kids afford to drive?
As I already said, get him a 1.0 litre old banger for no more than a grand. The insurance will be considerably cheaper and definitely worth doing.

He should be more than happy with that.

Yankee...It's not 18, it's 17 you can start to drive. I passed and was driving round on my own when I was 17. On the upside here are no restrictions once you do pass so once you have your licence you can do what you want/have any passengers you want/drive whatever time you want.

To the OP,

don't bother with price comparison websites. they end to be all branches of the same insurer anyway so they compare their prices to...their own prices.

If you can trust him then stick him on your insurance as a named driver and I'd recommend direct line. Still maybe looking at a grand or so but if he is willing to meet some of the cost it isn't all bad.

Have you tried sending him on a pass plus course? We run it our Fire Stations, I am told completing the course reduces insurance costs for new drivers and makes them drive a bit safer.

Very little insurance companies actually give a shit if you have the pass plus, I'm afriad the only way to make it much cheaper is to name him as a second driver on your policy for a year, and when they see he hasn't been causing any accidents, the price will be cut down alot when he makes his own policy.

And I agree about all the boy racer comments, utter *word censored*. I don't even drive fast because I'm too paranoid that there's undercover cops driving
