Safe standing bid launched in Parliament
You can e mail your MP using this website
http://www.theyworkforyou.com/
If you put in your postcode it works out who your MP is and a gives you an option to e mail them. It is very, very easy.
I'll be very surprised if Don Foster votes for increases in tuition fees.

Hmm... not a bad template... but couldn't we name check Victims F.C. in it, as it was their fault this bill came in, in the first place..GunnerRyan wrote:used the same template to message my MP, lets hope...LDB wrote:Emailed my MP with:

Understand your point Frank, but from a political point of you, if you want there to be any chance of this getting through then the worries of the Hillsborough relatives have to be addressed.franksav63 wrote:Hmm... not a bad template... but couldn't we name check Victims F.C. in it, as it was their fault this bill came in, in the first place..GunnerRyan wrote:used the same template to message my MP, lets hope...LDB wrote:Emailed my MP with:

There was also a good phone in this morning on 5live if you get the chance to hear it online later. Some good points made.
Brum away last year though proved to me the dangers of standing in a seated area. When we scored and, again when they equalised, it was mayhem. I'm amazed no-one got seriously injured. Standing areas would be far safer!
And a bit of respect please for the Hillsborough relatives. Anyone of a certain age, or who has watched and read about the events will know that it was f*cking awful and justice was never done. I absolutely understand why they should have their say and not fair to repeatedly go on about Victims F.C. and the like.....

That's fair enough MKG. Respect to those that lost their lives and their families, invariably those that got into the ground early, probably young people and their relatives who liked to get near the front.MK Gould wrote:There was also a good phone in this morning on 5live if you get the chance to hear it online later. However, people now see actions (and I have seen this on the underground, at the ground and in the pubs) by this club's fans, which are mindless and dangerous (not to mention Athens?). These are recent examples of behaviour from fans of a club who should know better than anyone, not that they should behave better than anyone, just that they should have more awareness.
Further to this, I am aware that we or other clubs are not whiter than white, but these things I mentioned above are things that I don't see from other club's fans, in these times.
Germany has proved that safe standing works. That is undeniable. The absence of seats in the way, and a limited capacity would provide the safety aspect that I think would satisfy the authorities, and make for better atmosphere inside our stadiums.
I feel for the families, and if it was me, it would probably be a hightened issue - and I may see things differently. But in the same way that changes were made (although very limited) after the Zeebrugge ferry disaster, and people could still roll on and roll off ferries, changes could be made to the terracing, and fans could once again enjoy the congregational feel of football, but with safety in mind.
RIP to the 96 football fans who lost their lives in 1989.
Ok, not the mickeys, but you can't talk about safe standing without some reference back to Hillsborough....enjibenji wrote:Must we bring up the mickeys every time this subject is mentioned.
As for Liverpool. When I started going to matches scousers had a reputation for slashing people with stanley knives. I remember being at Anfield for a night game when stones and half bricks started being thrown at us in the ground from outside. The Anfield area of Liverpool is an absolute sh*thole so we shouldn't be that surprised that some of the people who support the club are scum. Last season I was charged more to park there, just because the guy heard my accent. I didn't object - I thought it was hilarious! Athens? I know a scouser who had his ticket nicked by another scouser just as he was handing it in at the gate.
But that shouldn't in any way detract from respect for the 96 and their families......
He just did. WankerChippy wrote:You can e mail your MP using this website
