Shirt TRADITION broken

Agreed. All wearing the same length sleeves? Couldn't care less. But our away shirt should always be yellow with blue.

You see 26/5/89 thats where the whole double standards thing comes in and straight away weakens your arguement - you are in favour of keeper the kit colour traditions but not bothered about other traditions and to me you either support the traditions en masse cos you believe in the clubs traditions or you cant be arsed one way or the other. Dont get me wrong cos I totally see where you are coming from but in my opinion you are either a traditionalist or you are not and thats why I too am totally disgusted about the sleeve tradition being broken yesterday.

I should also say though that I totally back your arguement about the diving history of pires and I made comments of my own along those lines in the summer. I defended eboue at right back but he is not even related to a right winger and I am looking forward to his holidays at the anc so that wenger will then at least play someone more suitable in the position

26/5/89 is right about the double standards on Eboue.

For me, yes he probably made the most of it but shouldn't we be condemning Carragher for what happened? Eboue was making a run, Carragher must have known the ref wasn't paying attention to them so used his arm to stop Eboue in a nasty manner

Me, double standards? No, I'm just a complex character...

i cant see how eboue and pires can be compared,, ok so bob fell down a bit and the penalty v portsmouth  but eboue is a cheat,,and hate saying it about any arsenal player but he's the one constant that you know he will throw himself down  he's a coward when it comes to any 50-50 ball and i cant see what he brings to the team
Pires didn't get into face-holding histrionics, that's true, but that Pompey penalty was only the most obvious bit of his diving. Don't get me wrong, I loved Bobby, and I don't like Eboue overdoing things, but I think Eboue's copping too much shit. Pires, as well as other heroes like Ljungberg and Bergkamp, were regular cheats. So perhaps we should be a bit more honest about why we don't like Eboue, ie. we don't think he's good enough so we can't tolerate his cheating the way we could the cheating of the players who performed to higher standards.

I also don't think Eboue is the greatest either at right back or right midfield, especially given how eratic his passing can be, but he has a fantastic cross, is one of the best we have at driving into the penalty area (look at what he did when he shot and hit the post yesterday) and can be as effective as anyone else we have when his passes work. I'm not sure he has a future at Arsenal, I just think credit (and insults) should be given where they're due.
No, it's not because we don't think he is good enough, whereas we think Bob and DB were. Bob and DB NEVER dived as often or as theatrically as Eboue does. I remember back in 97 or 98 Hansen did a little stat thing where he worked out that DB was kicked or pulled or elbowed (off the ball) an average of 15 - 20 times a game; that was just OFF the ball, he took another 10+ illegal hits when in posession. Hansen said by the laws of the game these were all fouls but DB received not one free kick for them. So DB became adept at leaving the odd late one in himself and jumping out of the way of leg breakers. DB was actually a bit of a dirty f*cker but he had to be to survive out there.

We don't actually see half of what goes on out on the pitch. And it happens at all levels. I remember from my competative playing days getting punched in the balls, having my achilles stamped, elbows to the kidneys etc etc and I played at a very low level.

As far as skill goes, I actually think Eboue could be one of our best players, but he f*cks himself up because he is always looking at the next dive and not concentrating on his game. He actually puts himself off.

He is a disgrace and if he can't sort this sh*t out I'd rather we got rid of him  . We have slagged off the manure filth over Dive-aldo and Rooney and other teams over their divers for so long, it is really embarrassing that we now have one ourselves.

I also think the fact that Bobby and DB10 were banging in the goals helped us forget their darker sides. Eboue is just embarrassing

FAIR POINT,, they were the two most skillful players we had and they werent afraid to leave an elbow or little kicks when the ball was gone
but eboue is a fcuking disgrace,, i hare saying it as he is a gooner but it wouldnt bother me if he never played for us again,, it also gives other teams ammunition to throw at us

Eboue became a legend to me last season, think it was spuds away but cant be sure, when he was running down the right and the lino got in the way, so he pushed him right out of the way without breaking stride. Then when the ball went out he went back to the lino and hugged him.

In seriousness though, I wouldn't say I hate Eboue, but I'm really sick of his antics. The football we play is so great and he can be such a big part of it. Why spoil not only his own reputation but the club's too?

In all honesty, I think that while Eboue can be a great player, there are too many bad points, the cheating just being one, to his game which makes me think that we should offload him and bring in a proper right winger.

It aint the first time lads that it has been broke and I am the same I hate seeing it done........even more so when it is that siower of shite Eboue! Frankly I feel he has little right to waer an Arsenal shirt let alone fuck around with tradition!

As I say it has been done before, Talbot had long sleeves regardless most the time but rolled them up from what I know and I rememeber Flaminal coming on once in long sleeves, he was promptly hoiked back to the sidelines though to change into a short sleeved!

I am proud we have a tradition like this but as much as I dont like Eboue someone on the bench should have rectified the mistake too!

What grates me is they sell us the white shirt with the "Herbert Chapman tradition etc" nonsense all over it then forget to keep to tradition themselves!

Anyhow don't let it happen again Arsene!
