Gazza with an Arsenal shirt

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i've still got that shirt, and it fits easily (god bless the trend of big baggy shirts in the 90's!)
however mine's minus the collar, which i cut off with scissors (and i still hate football shirts with collars to this day!)

8-5 or something ridiculous like that.

And I've got to say Gazza was unreal that night.

And if memory serves correctly I'm sure Hoddle played 20 minutes in an Arsenal shit too.
I was also there (although I can't remember the score) and recall gooners giving Gascoigne a good reception, even bursting into:

Gazza is a Gooner
Gazza is a Gooner
La-la,la,la
La-la, la, la.

to which he responded with a great big smile. 8)
Yeah that was when he came off after about 70 minutes wasn't it?

At the start of the game he was getting the usual ironic jeers but the standard of his performance was just so good he won everybody over.

To this day I remember one piece of skill he used to go through Bilic and Gullit and then embarass the keeper. Quality. 8)

I think it was for Merson's testimonial and he was his friends. But could you imagine an Arsenal legend wearing a tottenham shirt for a game, even a testimonial?
Diaby

seriously great picture. If we had him in our lat eighties/early nineties team we would have been a proper force. him, rocky, limpar and merse
He would have also been able to hold is own in the drinking school!!!

Off-topic, but something that still annoys me to this day was the England squad for Italia '90. Not one bloody Arsenal player, although we had won the League the year before and were going to win it the year after.

Now our team, with the inclusion of the two y**s Gascoigne and Lineker, would, imo, have won the World Cup for England.

..........................Seaman.................................
Dixon..........Adams......Bould..........Winterburn
Rocastle......Thomas......Davis..........Gascoigne
...................Lineker.............Smith....................

subs Merse, Linighan ( Des Walker actually ).

I know England had very good players that played, Des Walker, Platt, Shilton, but 'my' England team would have won the World cup.

It takes more than just picking the 11 supposedly best players to make a team.

That Robson axed Adams and Rocky and Smudger in favour of Mark fucking Wright, no-one, and Steve Bull I will never forgive him for.
It was scandalous the selection that Robson finally opted for, it was very much governed by a totally anti-Arsenal media around this time, it was more apparent then than at any other time that I can recall, and the senile Robson just went with it.

I went to that game and Hoddle played sweeper for Arsenal and was the best player on the park. It was also the day he was announced as England manager.
