so what? if we had any english players that's exactly the kind of behaviour i'd want to see, i'm sick and tired of seeing our players get injured in fucking pointless internationals. i don't like terry or hargreaves but i think that they got their priorities right in putting their clubs first.Fuzzfeast wrote:It's why I can't be bothered with England anymore. The players go off sick but are fit for their clubs, or the ones that play put in fuck-all effort for their country so when the international break is over they can go back fit to play for their clubs. No England in Euro 2008 and I couldn't give a toss. Good luck to the next England manager because he will have a hard job getting the lazy fukkers to do something for him on the pitch.

Again, they didn't put their clubs first, maybe they should have murdered Maclaren and took hostages to force themselves into it against medical advice?
IHH it is a difficult, there are many reasons why we failed. Long term and having a huge effect, the coaching at youth level who are not trained perhaps as well as they should be, the crushing media and an FA that itself needs reform, keep Barwick, keep Brooking and do the bleeping Burns reform fully rather then token attempt.
In terms of players and manager, both. Manager may have had little luck and he is getting condemned for pretty much everything unfairly, he had some fine idea's while he also made us very hard to break down at the back. His dropping Beckham utterly from the squad was a huge error, his weakness in terms of using subs, possible failure to use Venables and his early weakness to the media, he warned Macedonia were a troublesome side but changed his tune when press seemed unhappy with that for example. I wouldn't have been against him given another chance but for this one, he wasn't good or strong enough for the job. I pity him too much to blame
The players must also take some blame, as well as the many that really mucked up against Croatia, on the rest of Euro 2008, there were flaws. On the whole, the defence and Robinson mostly did well, Bridge and Lescott aside. Crouch and Beckham did well while Owen tended to score but the rest did not do enough, the strikers didn't score enough and the midfielders did flip all in terms of creating chances. They seem to struggle under pressure and have a habit of "score one, get another one free" policy to defence. They were not good enough during Euro 2008 going forward plain and simple.
I do blame Jamie Carragher for being unable to understand he isn't speedy Gonzalez and leaving the England camp
