You are the angriest man in the world!Babatunde wrote:Wenger 'is a decent man'?rolypoly wrote:I am not here to defend Wenger but the personal foul mouthed abuse he has endured on forums such as this is completely wrong and unfair.
Wrong because I believe Wenger is a decent man who has done wonders for the club if you consider his 15 years as a whole.
Some random choices here.
1. 'Second place for the next 20 years'
2. Getting so shafted by the board he is willing to sign up a new megabucks contract for himself in double-time. yeah poor Arsene
3. Consistently lying to supporters
4. Barring fans from dialogue after someone dared to criticize his fluffer Silvestre
5. 'Haven't worked half a day in football'
6. Content to pick up £6.5 million a year in wages for winning fuck all, but then moaning about wages in football.
7. Talking about 'financial doping' and then paying shits like Diaby, Song, Denilson, Bendtner and Chamakh up to £80k a week (in the case of Chamakh)
8. Using the post-Udinese game to have a pop at fans who dared to question him. He weren't such a fucking loudmouth after Old Trafford a few days later was he?
9. Lying to fans and telling them he never knew Vermaelen would be out all season. Then two months later, admitting that he knew Vermaelen would be out for the whole season.
10. Actually coming out and justifying the 6.5% price hike.
11. Disrespected the Arsenal captaincy by tossing it around to uncommited players (even letting Nasri wear it in pre-season)
Nope. Wenger is a c**t.
I actually have more respect for Alex Ferguson because he doesn't lie so brazenly to ManUre fans. Whne he obviously had a problem with the board a few years back, he just kept his counsel to himself. He did not confirm or deny anything.
Wenger goes out of his way to lie. He's a c**t, he's a greedy self-serving capitalist who hides in a social egalitarian's clothing. When the reality is, he's as greedy and money obsessed as they come.
Wenger OUT.
This is the guy that came in to handle the transfers and club contracts a few years back. Gazidis doesn't.littlefire wrote:rolypoly wrote:

Lost interest after this little gem.rolypoly wrote:All the criticisms of Wenger are based on the assumption that he has total control over transfer policy, transfer fees and wages.
100% agree.Number 5 wrote:Lost interest after this little gem.rolypoly wrote:All the criticisms of Wenger are based on the assumption that he has total control over transfer policy, transfer fees and wages.
What he does have total control over is what happens on the training pitch. Formation, tactics, that kind of shit.
And for the last few years that has been fucking woeful, culminating in the attempt to go toe to toe with Man Utd with THAT starting XI.
No-one else answers for that. Wenger stands alone there.

Martin Keown was on it and the presenter asked him what he thought of the current situation and was Wenger forced to buy after the 8-2 drubbing at the weekend. I found his answer to be quite interesting.
He said that he believes it was the other way around and that the defeat at the weekend was designed by Wenger to force the club to allow him to spend! Not the scoreline, the result. He said he firmly believed that and had good reason to do so!
This suggests to me that it is not him that doesn't want to strengthen the squad. If Keown's comments can be taken at face value then much of what AW has said recently can be explained. We all know he is a company man and would never openly slate his employer. I think we mostly believe he has a genuine affection for the club. So are the board as supportive of him financially as they would have you believe or is he their scapegoat? Fair enough, tactically he has been incredibly inept over the last couple of years, but is he quietly disgruntled himself?
Like the rest of you I haven't a clue! Personally I cannot wait until he retires. Not because I want him out (I'd actually like to see him having enough money to build another team like 2004) but because I reckon his autobiography is going to be very revealing!

I do know what you are getting at and I think that Gazidis should be held responsibile overall. Although, it may not have been directly his fault for the mishandling of contract signings and other failed transfer attemptsrolypoly wrote: if the chap who responded with criticisms about wenger starts a separate thread i will reply but i am not absolving wenger of all responsibility. obviously he is at fault for wrong tactics etc - not even i can blame gazidis for that - but i`m only in this thread concerned about responsibility for wages transfer policy and the like and i think its outrageous how gazidis appears to escape all blame with one contributor here going as far as to say it aint his responsibility at all.
Totally agree with augie hereaugie wrote:So spuddy if your theory is correct does that mean you absolve wenger for his part in any deceitful conspiracy ? This is arsene wenger, a man of impeachable integrity, lying barefaced to the fans on a regular basis so surely he would be held accountable for the disception too ? It should also be pointed out that this rumoured deception started at a time when wenger could do no wrong with most Gooners so if he had of opposed to workings of this policy then I am damn sure that 99.9% of fans would have sided with him
Tbh this doesnt stack up for me - wenger is a guy who has always resented having to spend money so I dont really see or hear anything different from him. For me this is a convenient way of deflecting blame for a man who has been allowed assume far too much power for far too long to the point that I believe the board (useless greedy c**ts one and all) were afraid to oppose him as opposed to the other way around
