SALMON KALOU

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

However, if this option was given to me as the sole alternative to watching the Moroccan plodder and "super quality" Park then, I would reluctantly say yes, on the basis that (a) he can run faster than an arthritic tortoise and (b) he probably won't spend the entire 90 minutes being brushed aside like a little boy lost.

Would be a sign of how far we've fallen in terms of expectations in signing "super quality" though
I suppose my main concern with him is that you really need to be planning for the worst case scenario which is having a few weeks without RVP. If he gets injured you'd currently look very toothless with only Chamakh or Park to play up front (unless Wenger finally decides to put Walcott there, which I think he will do before too long). Someone like Anelka would be a good addition for not too much expense- he could play in the same side as RVP quite easily and if RVP is out, he could do a perfectly good job up top. Kalou on the other hand wouldnt add much to the side when RVP is playing and when he's out he'd add even less- sticking him in the side with Chamakh and expecting him to produce would be optimistic in the extreme imo. I suppose it depends on how much Chelsea would want for him like, but I really cant see him improving the squad

To be honest, Kalou or not I'd quite enjoy snapping all the *word censored*' arms off! 8)

I wouldn't mind Kalou. He's not "super quality" or an RVP replacement but he has a decent goalscoring record in the PL and is a little underrated at the Chavs I reckon. If he played week in week out for them he'd be in double figures easy each season.

I'm sorry lads but is the issue with us not our wage structure? The initial outlay on a player isn't much these days and it seems like agent fees and player wages broker a deal? Also can those privy to player wages, contracts, bonuses etc send me a pm how I can find them because I have Arsenal FS and I cannot find individual player wages or contracts in them

I would take him on a six month loan if there was no-one else available.

I think he would be a better option than Chamakh or Park.

I would prefer Anelka on a six month loan.

But I believe we will likely get Podolski.

I wouldn't mind Podolski or Anelka but I fear we'll end up with Umbongo Traore, from Paris via Malawi. A bargain £7m, probably scored 12 goals last season in his first season out of league trois in France.
Wenger will do all he can to spend any money on French/Africans, why even discuss any other signing?? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Anelka would be a good back up whilst chamakh and gervinho are at the african cup of nations. Also, he at least deserves to use the training facilities his transfer to madrid paid for back in '99. :D

Salmon Kalou's not a bad shout, I prefer it in a fish cake or with a light butter sauce though if I'm honest with you Babatunde....

The only situation where this would be acceptable in my eyes, would be if he was loaned to the end of the year because AA23 was shipped back to Russia for £15m.

No interest whatsoever in Kalou. He's not going to get any better. I'd rather us gamble on another unknown.
