Try using Guinness instead of ale. Much tastier.
Guinness is great to marinade a roast beef in but you can't beat proper steak and ale pie! 8)

AND the fact that a can of guinness will cost me almost the same as all the other ingredients together makes me tend to use a decent quality brazilian-made pale ale instead, as it costs one-fifth of the price :lol:

Actually the puff pastry is quite easy to find here mate.

Do you see the white cutlery? Do you see the white "Guinness" logo on the glass? Even after they yellowed the pic, you can still see that they are white? Right? Now look at the brown head on that pint... it looks like a typical pint of Guinness served in the UK or most anywhere abroad - shizer.

El Dwarfo - you have to try a pint of Guinness in a decent pub in Oireland. You'll be amazed by the difference, mate.

And if it's summer? A pint of Smithwicks Ale with a dash of red lemonade in a chilled glass. Fucking beautiful. I just came. 8)

a shame i didn't take that picture in raw (i was a jpeg bitch at the time, lazy stupid me) 'cause i'm sure that in the right white balance that guinness would look better. anyways, i guess people know what a guinness should look like in the country where it is actually brewed, so i'll give you that vote of confidence :lol: :wink:

there's this lovely irish pub in my town called mulligan that make this fantastic (i mean really fantastic) boxty - that's another thing i want to check when i'm in oirland, to see what the real deal tastes like :barscarf:

Do you see the white cutlery? Do you see the white "Guinness" logo on the glass? Even after they yellowed the pic, you can still see that they are white? Right? Now look at the brown head on that pint... it looks like a typical pint of Guinness served in the UK or most anywhere abroad - shizer.
Im talking print here but i presume it works with photos too... DB10 the white Guinness logo on the glass and white cutlery wouldnt have any yellow in it (being white) so if you were to yellow the picture the whites would stay white as would any other colour that doesnt have yellow in it, the increase of yellow hue would not affect them

flash, the white balance on my slr was off (i was too much a newbie to realise that at the time) so the white could be yellow. also, i applied a warming filter on photoshop on that photo later, to give it a better look and for the pie to look tastier so yes, everything on the picture is 'yellower', not only the yellow colours.

the plate and the little jar containing the gravy (don't know the name of that) were also very white, but in the picture they seem to be yellow-ish

Wrong, El Nostrilo Grande. :lol: :wink:

In a photograph the yellowing will "dull" the white but not change it from actual white. Thus the head on the Guinness (which should also be white btw) was not overly affected by the yellowing and so reflects a shitty brown head.
