Gunners to bid £10m for Matias Suarez
Never played for his national side and currently playing in the Belgian league? So how long do we need to give him for an 'adaption period' ?
£10m eh.....heaven forbid we just bid the same amount to trigger Demba Ba's release clause and buy a player with a track record in this country, on top of his game having terrorised United

Demba Ba is a ticking timebomb mate. His knees will go soon.SteveO 35 wrote:Never played for his national side and currently playing in the Belgian league? So how long do we need to give him for an 'adaption period' ?

Something we've heard since his days in Germany, then at West Ham and now at Newcastle. Seems as if the time bomb is ticking pretty slowly to me.....worthing_gooner wrote:Demba Ba is a ticking timebomb mate. Well there was a reason he failed his Stoke medical and only signed for West Ham on a pay as you play deal.SteveO 35 wrote:Something we've heard since his days in Germany, then at West Ham and now at Newcastle. Don't get me wrong though, for £10m it's a risk worth taking, especially given Wenger's track record with "risks" like Bischoff.
Maybe there has been a problem. I remember reading in John Hartson's book (a cracking read by the way if you haven't already) about him failing medicals before O'Neill took him to Celtic where he went on play game after game, scoring goal after goal.worthing_gooner wrote:Well there was a reason he failed his Stoke medical and only signed for West Ham on a pay as you play deal.SteveO 35 wrote:Something we've heard since his days in Germany, then at West Ham and now at Newcastle. The rumours of Ba and his dodgy knees first did the rounds when clubs were looking at him in Germany, but they seem to have stood the test. In fairness, if you receive an expert's medical report stating there'a a problem then its a brave man that bets against it
It just doesn't seem to be a problem that even prevents him playing that's the confusing thing. Take Ledley King - there's a known problem and he can only train and play on a limited basis. He even runs differently these days and has adapted his game. Ba, on the other hand, is playing every single week and looks very impressive physically - he puts his foot in, turns quickly, good pace etc. Baffling really

Yeah agreed it's very odd. Whatever the issue is/was it certainly doesn't seem to be troubling him now, and he's been playing week in week out for 90 minutes. I'm sure the geordies will be keeping an eye on it but if they had any concerns they'd use him sparingly surely.SteveO 35 wrote:Maybe there has been a problem. Problem is that, when you consider the amount of injury prone players we already have and add that to the wonderfully "talented" medical team we have, we cannot afford to take a chance on ba's knee's holding up
Would any of us be even slightly surprised to see him ruled out for an initial month (ending up to be 6 months) soon after joining us ?
I would much rather spend that 10m on darren bent or podolski

Yep that would cover one of their legs - what about the other one?augie wrote:Problem is that, when you consider the amount of injury prone players we already have and add that to the wonderfully "talented" medical team we have, we cannot afford to take a chance on ba's knee's holding upWould any of us be even slightly surprised to see him ruled out for an initial month (ending up to be 6 months) soon after joining us ?

But I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that Arsenal - the club/management/lawyers etc - were going to present a case for his being excused from doing his national service.....It has been done before (for a S.Korean Footballer) but I can't remember the name/club...

Agreed but its a measure of how shared goal scoring bankrupt we've becomearsenal1985 wrote:I never heard this guy before, I don't want we get Chamakh version 2
(the stat's don't lie) that every potential unknown is greeted as a possible messiah over the misfiring strikers that Wenger has hoarded for the last few seasons. Every time RVP goes to ground from here on in , will see even more audible sighs from the masses and lets face it, given the guys injury problems, it seems highly unlikely the footballing gods are going to grant us the boon of a total injury free season to our talisman extraordinaire. The likelihood of Chamakh and Gervinho returning with new found scoring confidence and Cross hairs in their boots is unlikely, Walcott will continue to fluff 1 in 5/6 chances , TH14(12) is unfortunately just a marriage of convenience whilst we don't have any midfielders anymore who will get into double figures for a season. Some one proven like Podolski, yes please but Christ if ever Wenger needs to pull a guy who
knows where the net is from out of his faded moth eaten hat , its now.

I'm sure you've analysed him in depth atfter all the anderlcht matches you've scouted him at. Please write us a thesis as to why he would, in fact, be a great signing and be better than the Luis of the same surname.Demun210 wrote:You really don't know what you're talking about. A case of Wenger shopping in Primark again.
