Lap of Honour

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm not going to be there but I agree with g88ner - certain players deserve the appreciation of the fans at the end of this season. I hate to think what would have happened if RvP and Mikel Arteta had been out injured for any period of time (well we see what happens when the latter is out - we never win), and Chesney, Kos have been consistent performers too.

Of course I would hope that Abou gets the warm wishes from concerned fans and given every encouragement to return fit and fighting for next season.

Thankfully some of the grade A wasters like Arshavin, Denilson, Vela and Bendtner won't be there, but I would find it hard to raise a cheer for Maryanne, SQP and the reserve keeper muppets

They're not applauding "failure"; that would be ridiculous - many will be applauding the effort and contribution of some of the players.

Read my post above to see why I'll be applauding RvP, Koscielny, Vermaelen, etc.

We were out of the title race before a ball was kicked, out of every trophy before March. If that isnt faliure nothing is

Yes Szczesny Sagna Kos Arteta and RVP deserve applause but as a team we have failed again so has Wenger

Glad you agree!

That's all I'm saying - yes we were out the title race before it started and yes it's been a failure of a season (again) BUT... as you say, some players deserve their applause!

Fair point, I should've worded that better. Yes players like RVP,Chesney, TV,Kos etc deserve a good reception. My worry is a large majority in there will see 3rd as if we'd win something and the dreaded one Arsene Wenger chants....

Why are people talking about failure here? Haven't you heard what Arsene's choir boys say?
If we finish 3rd, a season in which we were hammered 8-2, lost our best players, and spent the season staving off Geordies and Spuds - whilst being out of league and CL running before a ball was even kicked....would be Arsene's 'GREATEST EVER ACHIEVEMENT'!

Show some bloody respect and love to Arsene, £7 mil a season for 3rd, we are spoiled.

A bit of advice.....when joking or being sarcastic put the winking emoticon at the end of your statement 8)
I am assuming that you are indeed joking right ?? I mean after watching the debacles against manure away, blackburn away, qpr away, fulham away, wigan home, wolves home etc etc you couldnt have been serious about the players we have doing well ? Rvp has by and large carried this team this season with some assistance from chesney and kos - all the others have either been out injured for long spells or have been well shit

I am over for the game on saturday and I will be very interested to see how many wait around at the end and what type of reaction they give the players and wenger :rubchin:

And Mikel Arteta ?

Can someone remind of our win ratio when he hasn't played

Apologies cos I too am an arteta fan and believe 100% that we would not be battling for top 4 if we hadnt of signed him - when he is missing it merely highlights what a donkey song is for those who werent already aware of it

While I've got you in an agreeable mood......any chance of a good round of applause for Abou after the Norwich game

I used to get tix for the last game as a bit of a ritual, even if the oppo were shite cos I wanted to show appreciation, but didn't go in 2010 even though I had tix and didn't buy last year or this year. There are so few of the players I feel have put in a decent shift and I couldn't stand trying to applaud the deluded one. I am ashamed in so many ways. :(
