Am absolutely disgusted by this decision - adkins had done an unbelievable job in what can only be described as a two bob small town club and now he gets fired ? Football gone fcuking mad :x I always complained about the treatment steve kean whilst managing a shit club with no resources and I am delighted at how far they have sunk since his sacking and now I hope the same misery hits southampton

Kean made himself look a bit of a prick when he was filmed by those two fans in a bar saying how well he was going to do and slagging off Alladyce (although take a bow for that :D )

Adkins, even when they were rock bottom, has always maintained his dignity and dug them out of the situation. Feel for the bloke

Shaky start, when he had to rely on the loyalty built up by his previous record, but they have really turned things around....so stunned that they would let him go now. They obviously feel this new, untried, Argentine is ready. Time will tell, but agree that it would now be nice to see them sink like a stone and lose the one or two quality players they have!

Don't think Adkins though will have too many problems getting another job.

everything said in this thread is what other fans would say if we were to ever sack Wenger

You're having a laff right ? The more knowledgable fans of other clubs are more than well aware of the "x number of years without a trophy", will know that we have the dearest ticket prices in world football (  ), will be well aware of wenger's behaviour on the sidelines and will be well tuned in to the continual decline of our team and his inability to arrest that decline  Yes there will be ignorant fans willing to follow the lead of newspaper hacks who suggest that we are lucky to have wenger and will be fcuked when he goes but those braindead gobshites exist within our fanbase as well as fans from other clubs

A year ago maybe. It wouldn't be universal now, I've spoken to plenty of non-Arsenal fans who now think we should get rid of him. Now that the media has started to turn on him this year, fans have begun to listen. We'd still get some stick but most of this would be for 'not letting him walk' (even though he's had the chance every year since 2008). Besides, we'll never sack him.

Southampton are 15th, they are over-performing - look at the table at the start of the season and who did people predict Southampton would finish above? Reading, possibly QPR, Wigan at a push. They also shot themselves in the foot by giving him time to turn it round and then when he did exactly that sacking him anyway. Difficult to suggest we're doing anything but underachieving being in 6th and out of the title race by October every season with no trophies.

I speak to neutral fans all the time and most can't believe he's still in a job

How long before Southampton sacking Adkins is used as a reason for Arsenal not to sack Wenger? Or has it already happened?

Having your fielded eleven claw back a two goal deficit at the home of the hugely successful and mighty Champions League winners, (can't bring myself to call them European Champs) should have the squad bouncing off the walls with confidence.
Sack the manager two days later and three days before the next PL game screams ................

Think they've lost one in 6 or something like that and are making steady progress for a team that was in league 1 20months ago.

Looks like chairman wants his own man.

Bet 'arry's sorry he took the QPR job now!
